Match Preview

Orient over the worst for now Leyton Orient's injury problems are beginning to clear up ahead of the visit of Preston. Kevin Lisbie returned from a thigh injury as a substitute and scored in the 2-2 draw at Huddersfield last week, and fellow striker Jamie Cureton is now available after missing six matches with a groin problem. The Os can also welcome back defender Scott Cuthbert after a three-match ban, and midfielder Tom Clarke, who was ineligible against parent club Huddersfield last week. But full-back Charlie Daniels and midfielder Jimmy Smith are still struggling with thigh problems and are unlikely to play. Goalkeepers Ben Alnwick (groin), Jamie Jones and David Button (both shoulder) are still sidelined along with striker Jonathan Tehoue (broken wrist). Paul Parry will return to Preston's squad as they aim to record a eighth consecutive league win. The left-back missed Tuesday's thrilling 4-3 win over Wycombe after picking up two yellow cards in the victory over Tranmere. Steven Smith started in Parry's absence in what was Phil Brown's only change from the side which he fielded against Rovers. Goalkeeper Iain Turner (foot) could return to the bench but may be able to dislodge young stopper Andreas Arestidou in the starting XI. Brown is unlikely to usher David Gray back into a starting berth as he continues his rehabilitation from a broken leg. The defender was among the substitutes on Tuesday after completing 14 minutes against Tranmere, his first competitive action since March.

Match Report

O`s upset the odds Dean Cox`s brace earned bottom club Leyton Orient their first league win of the season as they shocked high-flying Preston 2-1. North End went into the clash at Brisbane Road just two points off top spot in League One, unbeaten away from home this season and having won their last seven matches. And the status quo looked like being maintained after just two minutes as Jamie Proctor raced down the left flank and crossed for the unmarked Paul Coutts to score from close range. Orient took some time to recover their composure but levelled after 36 minutes when Kevin Lisbie jinked his way past a defender and picked out Cox, whose header rolled past Andreas Arestidou before nestling into the corner of the net. The goal galvanised the O's and the hosts went in front in first-half injury time when Cox surprised Arestidou with a perfectly-placed drive from 25 yards. The second half was just three minutes old when Scott Cuthbert conceded a penalty for a push on Neil Mellor but Lee Butcher dived to save Graham Alexander's spot-kick. The visitors were out of luck when Iain Hume thumped a free-kick against an upright, and the home side defended doggedly to earn all three points for the first time this term.
