Match Preview

Os wait on Chorley Leyton Orient will check on Ben Chorley ahead of the clash with Plymouth. The centre-half missed Saturday's 3-1 defeat at Charlton due to a thigh problem and will be assessed prior to kick-off. Midfielder Matthew Spring is still missing as he serves the second game of the three-match ban he received for a red card against Yeovil last weekend. Skipper Stephen Dawson (dead leg) and left-back Charlie Daniels (ankle) were carrying injuries ahead of the weekend but both came through the full 90 minutes unscathed. Back-to-back defeats have put a big dent in Orient's play-off hopes so boss Russell Slade could make changes with Paul-Jose Mpoku and Adam Chambers pushing for places in the starting line-up. Plymouth will be without Chris Clark and Jim Paterson for the trip. Midfielder Clark has suffered a knock in training and will miss out, while Paterson has bronchitis to further dent manager Peter Reid's depleted squad. However, their losses pave the way for Joe Mason and Rory Fallon, who have been suffering from groin and ankle injuries respectively, to claim starting berths. Onismor Bhasera was recently ruled out for nine months, while the game comes too soon for Luke Summerfield (knee). The Pilgrims problems have forced Reid to call youngsters Jake Baker and Jed Harper-Penman into the first-team squad, and both could feature. The former Sunderland boss is confident his side can claim the points at Brisbane Road, saying: "It's going to be a difficult game. Russell Slade has done a terrific job but we go there in the right frame of mind because we know we've got to win games."

Match Report

Orient boost play-off ambitions Leyton Orient recorded their first win in five games to revitalise their play-off hopes, triumphing 2-0 over bottom side Plymouth. The O's scored twice in the opening 13 minutes to take a firm grip on the game against a beleaguered Plymouth side in administration and forced to name two untried youngsters on the bench. Victory was far more comfortable than the final scoreline indicates as the home side controlled the match from the first whistle, seldom allowing the visitors a semblance of hope of clawing their way back into the match The game was just four minutes old when midfielder Dean Cox delivered a deep cross which Jimmy Smith headed into the path of Scott McGleish, who in turn headed home from 10 yards for his 17th goal of the season. Cox turned from architect to scorer nine minutes later when Alex Revell left the Argyle defence trailing before picking the midfielder out on the left, who smashed the ball home through the legs of keeper David Button. Revell, who had missed a sitter after 10 minutes when he headed wide from 10 yards with the goal at his mercy, suffered further misfortune when he stretched for a ball and fell awkwardly in a heap before being stretchered off seven minutes before the interval. The second half was a scrappy affair although the O's had a penalty appeal rejected when Stephen Dawson went down in the area under a challenge, while the best the Pilgrims could muster was a header from Rory Fallon which Orient keeper Jamie Jones saved on the line.
