Match Preview

Os wait on Liddle Leyton Orient will check on the fitness of full-back Michael Liddle ahead of Friday night's derby showdown with Charlton. The youngster, who was drafted in on loan from Sunderland as cover for injured left-back Charlie Daniels, missed Tuesday night's Carling Cup win over Swindon with a groin strain so rookie Mike Cestor was handed his senior debut. Daniels will be sidelined until the end of August with a knee injury so Cestor will keep his place if Liddle is ruled out again. Veteran forward Scott McGleish was rested from the starting line-up in midweek and could find himself on the bench again after his replacement, Ryan Jarvis, and strike partner Alex Revell grabbed a goal apiece. Midfielder Adam Chambers was also among the substitutes at the County Ground and could return to the starting XI. Charlton manager Phil Parkinson will recall a number of key players for the short trip. Parkinson made eight changes to his starting line-up for the Carling Cup clash at Shrewsbury on Tuesday night and watched in dismay as they threw away a three-goal lead to lose 4-3. Rob Elliot will reclaim his place in goal from Ross Worner against the Os while veteran duo Christian Dailly and Gary Doherty should be restored to the centre of defence. Midfielder Alan McCormack, winger Kyel Reid and striker Akpo Sodje are also in line for recalls. Therry Racon should continue in midfield as Jose Semedo serves the second game of his three-match ban. Left-back Kelly Youga (knee) remains the only injury absentee.

Match Report

Plucky Addicks sink Os Charlton overcame the setback of having captain Christian Dailly sent off to record a 3-1 win at Leyton Orient. Charlton broke the deadlock in a high-tempo derby when full-back Simon Francis crossed from the right and midfielder Alan McCormack, unmarked beyond the far post, beat Orient keeper Jamie Jones with a precise header. Orient equalised after the break when Charlton failed to deal with a cross from the right and striker Scott McGleish swept the ball in from beyond the far post. Two minutes later Dailly was red-carded by referee James Linington following a clash with Stephen Dawson. Charlton survived some fierce Orient pressure, and then in rare breakaway on the hour midfielder Scott Wagstaff was put clear by Lee Martin and finished into the corner. In added time Wagstaff laid on the chance for substitute Chris Solly to tap in a third.
