Glenn Hoddle says Wolves' promotion train has not come off the rails but there has been a blockage on the line after banking just one point from two Molineux outings in five days.

Wolves continually struggled against Leicester City after their 17-game unbeaten home run came to an abrupt halt with their midweek defeat against Millwall.

They rarely troubled City and in the end had to be grateful for a terrific save from keeper Michael Oakes and a spell of poor finishing from striker Mark De Vries.

Oakes had little to do before he joined the action in the 59th minute to brilliantly fingertip away a rising goalbound shot from Joey Gudjonsson.

Striker De Vries wasted his first golden scoring opportunity in the 13th minute when he side-footed the ball wide of the target after a pinpoint left-wing cross from Momo Sylla.

Then in the 26th minute the striker took advantage of hesitation in the heart of the Wolves defence only to stroke his shot wide of the far post.

Wolves also had a good chance of finding the net in the 22nd minute when Joleon Lescott nodded a cross from Lee Naylor into the middle. The ball flew perfectly into the path of Carl Cort who has six goals to his credit so far this term but his header from a marvellous position went out for a throw in.

After the break Wolves skipper Mark Kennedy had a 30-yarder comfortably taken by Leicester keeper Robert Douglas.

Then in the 62nd minute Douglas made a fine diving save as he went down to hold a long-range effort from Naylor.

Wolves looked a lot sharper in the dying stages with substitute Vio Ganea firing an 80th minute shot wide after George Ndah had carved out the opening.
