Match Preview
Pearson to run the rule Leicester manager Nigel Pearson will check on the fitness of a handful of players ahead of the visit of Burton in the FA Cup. Winger Ben Marshall is the latest player nursing a knock after being on the receiving end of a strong tackle during the 6-1 league win over Huddersfield on New Year's Day. Defender Zak Whitbread (calf) and striker Jamie Vardy (heel) have been sidelined in recent weeks and will continue to be monitored ahead of the third-round tie. On-loan forward Jesse Lingard has returned to Manchester United, although there is still a possibility that fellow Old Trafford youngster Michael Keane could extend his stay. The defender would need permission to play in the FA Cup, and the absence of Whitbread and Sean St. Ledger (hamstring) would make his ongoing presence a boost for Pearson. It remains to be seen whether the Foxes boss will shuffle his pack for the game against the npower League Two side, with the likes of defender Liam Moore, midfielder Andy King and strikers Martyn Waghorn and Marko Futacs all vying for game time. Burton have already beaten Leicester at the King Power Stadium this season, causing an upset in the Capital One Cup with a 4-2 first round win in August. Burton could be without defender Anthony O'Connor. O'Connor, on loan from Blackburn, has been a virtual ever-present for boss Gary Rowett since arriving at the Pirelli Stadium in the summer, playing in all but two of Albion's league and cup games this season. But the right-back is nursing a hamstring injury following the league defeat at York on New Year's Day and is a major doubt ahead of the third round tie. Nathan Stanton, who missed the trip to York through suspension, is likely to deputise at right-back if O'Connor misses out - assuming skipper Zander Diamond recovers from a sickness bug. "We're hoping Zander will be better by the weekend, which will free up Stanno," said Rowett.
