Match Report

Nigel Pearson had described Saturday's 5-1 drubbing at East Midlands rivals Nottingham Forest as the worst performance by Leicester since he arrived at the Walkers Stadium and he was forced to endure further humiliation as his side were torn apart by a vibrant Bristol City.

Leicester survived a scare early on when Danny Haynes played in Nicky Maynard for a clear run on goal but Chris Weale was quickly off his line to snuff out the danger.

The home side then had a penalty appeal waved offside after Dean Gerken appeared to bundle over Martyn Waghorn inside the area.

The Foxes fell behind on 19 minutes when livewire Ivan Sproule waltzed past four defenders before lifting an angled shot over Weale from seven yards.

Dany N'Guessan tried to rally his side with an 18-yard shot which drifted wide, but the Leicester rearguard was at fault again on 28 minutes when a poor header from Wayne Brown was worked quickly to Cole Skuse, who left Weale floundering with a wonderful strike into the top corner from 30 yards.

Despite the half-time deficit Pearson decided against making any changes.

Waghorn had the chance to restore his side's confidence shortly after the restart when he latched onto a Matty Oakley throughball but he was quickly closed down and fired wide and from a tight angle.

Weale then needed two attempts to smother Jamie McAllister's long free-kick as the visitors continued to look comfortable.

There was more misery for Pearson on 76 minutes when a blunder up-field by Jack Hobbs was seized on by Skuse, who sprinted 70 yards before he fed the unmarked Evander Sno who drilled home from ten yards.

Waghorn's frustration boiled over on 78 minutes with a vicious tackle on McAllister for which he was shown a red card.

Substitute Matt Fryatt grabbed a consolation goal for Leicester in stoppage time when he guided the ball home after latching onto a Paul Gallagher pass.
