Match Preview

Gallagher pushing for start Leicester have no new problems as they prepare to host midlands rivals Birmingham. The Foxes' play-off hopes have suffered a huge setback with back-to-back away defeats to Bristol City and Reading, leaving manager Nigel Pearson admitting his side now face a "massive" task to gatecrash the top six. Paul Gallagher will come into contention for a start after a hamstring injury following substitute appearances at Ashton Gate and the Madejski Stadium. Fellow forwards Steve Howard and Jeff Schlupp, winger Ben Marshall and centre-half Sol Bamba will also be hoping for recalls. Full-back Paul Konchesky will serve the final game of his three-match suspension. Leicester go into the game 12th in the Championship table, nine points adrift of the play-offs with 11 matches remaining. Jordon Mutch starts a three-match suspension for Birmingham. The midfielder was shown red in the closing stages of Saturday's 1-1 draw at Coventry and will now miss the clash at the King Power Stadium as well as games against Middlesbrough and Cardiff. Full-backs David Murphy (hip) and Stephen Carr (knee) were absent at the Ricoh Arena and both will sit out again. Several of Chris Hughton's side picked up minor knocks and bruises at the weekend but none are serious. Birmingham travel to Leicester in need of a victory to boost their promotion ambitions having picked up just two points from the last nine on offer against Coventry, Derby and Nottingham Forest.
