The ref has blown his whistle and the match has started.
Leicester's first two games of the season produced a combined total of 11 goals, prompting manager Craig Levein to urge his side to adopt a more patient approach. But how he wished his strikers had shown more urgency after they failed to breakthrough Town's makeshift rearguard, although City will rarely come up against two goalkeepers in the same match, with both registering superb displays. Lewis Price had been expected to make his senior international debut for Wales against Slovenia next week, but that may be in doubt now after he hobbled off in the 35th minute following an injury sustained while blocking a close-range effort from Mark De Vries. Before that, Price produced two stunning saves, the first inside the first minute to keep out Joey Gudjonsson's 20-yard drive and then, after 16 minutes, he produced a fingertip save to turn David Connolly's long-range effort away. Price was replaced by debutant Shane Supple, an 18-year-old Republic of Ireland schoolboy international who was a member of the Ipswich side which won last season's FA Youth Cup. Within moments the teenager was called into action, diving to his right to keep out De Vries' downward header. Ipswich managed a rare breakout in the 42nd minute but Nicky Forster was forced wide by Rab Douglas and could only fire into the side netting. Gareth Williams tried his luck from 16 yards after 56 minutes but Supple positioned himself well to make a comfortable save. The youngster saved his best for the hour mark to again deny Williams, this time with an instinctive block from close range when the midfielder seemed certain to convert substitute Dion Dublin's knockdown. And the replacement goalkeeper was perfectly placed again after 70 minutes to keep out Dublin's powerful header which had appeared destined for the top corner. When Supple did make a mistake, spilling the ball in time added on, his senior colleagues were on hand to snuff out any danger before the Leicester strikers could react.
