Shinnie looks for first win against Dons Graeme Shinnie insists Inverness have already forgotten about their thrashing at the hands of Motherwell as they seek their first win of the season against Aberdeen. The Highlanders have shipped eight goals in their last two Clydesdale Bank Premier League outings, losing 4-2 to Celtic before slumping to a 4-1 loss to the Steelmen. Despite such a disappointing spell before the international break, Shinnie claims Caley Thistle are up for the challenge against the Dons and not dwelling on past disappointments. The defender said: "We've forgotten about that Motherwell game now and we have to look forward to Aberdeen on Saturday and get the first win of the season. "We have been focusing on that and the mood is upbeat. Everyone is buzzing and looking forward to Saturday." Shinnie does not believe their efforts against Motherwell were quite as bad as the result suggests. He added: "It was a disappointing day. We had a few chances and the scoreline flattered them a wee bit, I would say. "We had chances but people who didn't watch the game will look at 4-1 and think we had no chance and got a consolation goal. "People who were actually at the game saw that we had the chances to get back in the game and we didn't take them. At the back, there were a few sloppy errors. "It was a disappointing game but we can take the positives out of the game and take them into Saturday now." Shinnie believes Aberdeen are also a team who have yet to hit top form this season. He said: "I've heard they've been creating chances and missing them. "It reminds me a bit of us last year when we were doing well and maybe not killing games off. "That seems to be what Aberdeen are doing but we need to focus on what we're going to be doing on Saturday." Meanwhile, boss Terry Butcher warned of the threat posed by former winger Jonny Hayes, who sealed a move to Pittodrie in the summer. He said: "He's a character, he's a lovely boy. "It's disappointing that he's not with us but that's life and that's football. "We wish him well but obviously not on Saturday. "He's a good footballer and if we let him play the way he can play, he can really hurt us." Aberdeen goalkeeper Jamie Langfield has been encouraged by their start to the season despite a familiar struggle to score goals. Craig Brown's team have failed to net in four out of five of their Clydesdale Bank Premier League matches. Aberdeen were the lowest scorers in the SPL last season, with 36 goals in 38 matches, but Langfield feels their luck will turn as they look to build on a return of six points so far this term. "We are playing really well," the 32-year-old said. "I'm thoroughly enjoying playing with the team. "We are thoroughly looking forward to the game and hopefully we get three points rather than the point we've been getting. "We are playing a lot more football. The lads are very calm on the ball at the back and it's easy to start from the back now. "We have got a solid midfield and pace up front now. "It's a great team shape and team that we have put together. "The way we have performed, I don't think you can complain too much." Aberdeen's attempts to improve their goal return were not helped by an ankle injury to summer signing Niall McGinn in their 0-0 draw against Ross County, the first of three goalless draws at Pittodrie this season. But the former Celtic forward is in the squad to face Caley Thistle and Langfield is encouraged by the emergence of winger Ryan Fraser and the signing of former Inverness winger Jonny Hayes. "Niall is a quality international striker and he comes back into the fold," Langfield said. "It's great for us to have competition all over the park. "Scott (Vernon) needs a goal, I'm sure that's going to come very soon. "We have got Jonny and Ryan is absolutely flying. I'm sure the goals will come. "On the day luck comes into it, you can hit the post and bar and miss chances. "As long as we don't concede at the back, we are giving ourselves a right good chance up front. "The goals will come." Aberdeen are still without left-back Gary Naysmith (hamstring) and midfielder Rob Milsom, who suffered a recurrence of a knee problem. But Brown had some encouraging news about Milson following a visit to a specialist. "The surgeon didn't find any reason to prevent him from going into full training next week," Brown said.
