Match Report
New signing Shaun MacDonald scored the only goal of the game right on half time to clinch Yeovil's first back-to-back wins for more than a year and keep them clear of the relegation zone.
Both clubs began the night by introducing two newcomers for this League One battle. The Terriers paid about £750,000 to get Anthony Pilkington and Lionel Ainsworth from Stockport and Watford respectively, whereas Yeovil bussed in youngsters MacDonald (Swansea) and Aleksander Prijovic (Derby County) on the morning of the match.
Huddersfield started firm favourites to bounce back from Saturday's defeat against league leaders Leicester, but although Pilkington was bright they seldom troubled the Yeovil keeper and it was no surprise when the Glovers got that goal just before the break.
A corner on the right was not properly cleared and Danny Schofield - who had nine seasons with the Terriers - pushed the ball to MacDonald whose firm finish from ten yards gave Alex Smithies no chance.
Two minutes after the break the other Yeovil new boy had a good chance to double the lead.
An intelligent ball by Luke Rodgers left him clear on the right but his firm low shot flew across the goal and just wide.
Huddersfield brought on Ainsworth in the 55th minute for Keigan Parker and he had their best chance three minutes later.
Pilkington, who had a bright debut, crossed from left and Ainsworth gave defenders the slip but headed just over.
Yeovil were still looking the most likely scorers however and it took an incredible save by Smithies to prevent them doubling their lead on 70 minutes.
Substitute Paul Warne got clear down the left and his cross was met at the far post by Andy Welsh whose point-blank header looked a goal all the way until Smithies produced a save that he won't better all season.
