Clarke banned for Terriers
Huddersfield will be without suspended skipper Peter Clarke for their home Boxing Day clash with Chesterfield.
Clarke will sit out a one-game ban under the totting-up procedure, so Antony Kay is likely to return to partner Alex Bruce, on loan from Leeds, at the heart of defence.
Manager Lee Clark has recalled another centre-half, Jamie McCombe, from his loan spell at Preston and he will return to the squad.
Midfielder Damien Johnson remains sidelined until the New Year due to a hamstring injury but Clark will have Alan Lee available again as the striker has served a three-game ban.
Clark must decide whether to include Lee and on-loan Jon Parkin in his matchday squad, with Lee Novak expected to partner leading goalscorer Jordan Rhodes up front.
Clark has no other new injury or suspension worries as the Terriers chase their first league win in four matches.
Gregor Robertson and Jimmy Juan could be included in the Chesterfield squad.
Robertson has had a few thigh problems since recovering from a long-term Achilles problem, although the defender has not made a first-team appearance for the Spireites since suffering the injury at the start of April.
Generally a left-back, Robertson switched to centre-half last season and took to the position well. With conceding goals a major problem recently, the Scot gives manager John Sheridan an option in a troublesome position that has so far this season seen nine different pairings.
Juan, who joined Chesterfield this month, was short of match practice having been without a club since the summer. The Frenchman has played three reserve-team games so could now be considered ready and, should Sheridan choose to pack his midfield at the Galpharm Stadium, he could force his way into the starting line-up.
Veteran striker Jack Lester will begin a three-match suspension after the club decided not to appeal his violent conduct charge in relation to an incident which occurred during the 1-1 home draw against Walsall last weekend.
Former Chesterfield loan players Jack Hunt and Donal McDermott could feature for Huddersfield.
Town's Rhodes paved with gold
Huddersfield striker Jordan Rhodes sealed a 1-0 win for his side with a cheeky back-heel to earn them a first win in four matches.
Lee Novak's low cross from the by-line was turned in by Scotland international Rhodes, who has scored five times in his last two games, at the near post in the 34th minute.
Rhodes, now on 20 goals for the season, had been denied four minutes earlier by a brilliant last-ditch clearance from Chesterfield striker Drew Talbot, who hacked the ball off the goalline.
Rhodes, a menace in the first half, should have put the Terriers in front in the 12th minute, but fired straight at visiting goalkeeper Tommy Lee from Alex Bruce's pass.
Chesterfield, who have not won in 13 league matches, came more into it after the break and nearly levelled when Dean Morgan fired just wide in the 66th minute.
Spireites striker Jordan Bower also narrowly missed the target four minutes later, but Huddersfield clung on despite some desperate defending towards the end.
