Match Preview

Trio in Terriers frame Huddersfield trio Alex Smithies, Lee Peltier and Anthony Pilkington are all in contention for the home clash with Bournemouth. Goalkeeper Smithies has been released by England Under-21s to play for the Terriers this weekend before possibly joining back up with Stuart Pearce's squad early next week. Defender Peltier is available again following his one-game ban and winger Pilkington will return to the squad after missing the last two matches due to a twisted ankle. Liam Ridehalgh made his first senior appearance for the Terriers in last week's home win over Charlton and is expected to continue at left-back as first choice Gary Naysmith is still nursing a toe injury. Midfielder Scott Arfield and winger Graham Carey are on Under-21s international duty with Scotland and the Republic of Ireland respectively. Bournemouth strike duo Michael Symes and Josh McQuoid are both doubts. Symes and McQuoid have struck up a promising partnership since the departure of leading marksman Brett Pitman to Bristol City, but both sat out Tuesday's Johnstone's Paint Trophy penalty shoot-out loss to Torquay with injury. McQuoid (calf) is the most likely of the two to feature, while the game may come too soon for Symes (shoulder). Jayden Stockley led the line in their absence against the Gulls, and Lyle Taylor will also be vying for a starting place along with veteran Lee Bradbury. Left-back Rhoys Wiggins was not risked in midweek due to an ankle problem, and he will be looking to claim his place back from Warren Cummings. Steve Fletcher (heel) continues to battle back to fitness, while Mark Molesley (foot) and Steve Lovell (ankle) are long-term casualties.

Match Report

Pugh denies Terriers Marc Pugh scored 11 minutes from time as Bournemouth held Huddersfield to a 2-2 draw at the Galpharm Stadium. Cherries substitute Harry Arter chipped in a cross which caught the Huddersfield defence napping and Pugh nipped in to send a header looping over goalkeeper Alex Smithies and into the net. It had seemed that goals either side of the break from Gary Roberts and Antony Kay had given the home side an unlikely victory. Bournemouth, who have not won at Huddersfield since 1993, were deservedly leading thanks to a lovely curling finish from striker Josh McQuoid after 33 minutes. Marvin Bartley dispossessed Town's Joey Gudjonsson in midfield and played in McQuoid, who notched his third goal in four matches by stroking into the bottom-right corner. Huddersfield, who rarely threatened in the first half, scored an undeserved equaliser in stoppage time when Kay headed in a Roberts corner. Town went in front after 48 minutes when Bartley felled Roberts in the box, with Roberts despatching the resulting penalty into the bottom-right corner. Terriers striker Alan Lee hit the post and had a 20-yard blast well saved by keeper Shwan Jalal as Huddersfield searched for a third goal. But Bournemouth refused to roll over and hit back with an Anton Robinson effort which was ruled out for offside before Pugh rescued a point.
