Vaughan pushing for start Huddersfield striker James Vaughan is hoping to return to the starting line-up for the home game with Bolton. Vaughan returned after a seven-game absence as a substitute in last week's derby defeat to Leeds and is edging closer to his first start since October 23 after shaking off a thigh injury. But fellow striker Jermaine Beckford remains doubtful due to the hamstring problem that has kept him sidelined since the win at Barnsley early last month. Sean Scannell is pushing for a recall after missing the last four games with a hamstring injury of his own, while fellow striker Lee Novak and midfielder Oliver Norwood are hoping to feature after they were unused substitutes last week. Defender Paul Dixon is expected to return to the squad after missing out altogether last week and winger Adam Hammill, on loan from Wolves, is pushing for his first start since early November. Huddersfield are chasing their first league win in five matches. Bolton defender Stephen Warnock is an injury doubt. On-loan Aston Villa left-back Warnock missed last weekend's 2-1 home defeat to Ipswich with an infected toe and if he does not recover in time Marcos Alonso is poised to keep his place. That is not something too many Wanderers players can have been overly confident of doing of late as Dougie Freedman continues to rotate his line-up during the opening weeks of his reign. Last Wednesday's victory at Blackburn came after six alterations to the side that drew at Brighton, and three more changes were in the offing against Ipswich. Jacob Butterfield and Lee Chung-Yong were on the bench for the latter contest and are pushing for a start once more, while Martin Petrov adds another attacking midfield option having overcome a hamstring strain. Stuart Holden has returned to training but remains a couple of months away from first-team action, while fellow knee-injury victims David Wheater and Josh Vela are still sidelined.
