Bulls look to bring in New Year with win Rob Purdie is set to miss Hereford`s New Year's Day clash at home to Torquay. The lively winger lasted just 29 minutes of the 2-1 Boxing Day defeat at Wycombe before being forced off with an injury to his hamstring which had been feeling tight in the days before the encounter. Manager Jamie Pitman will assess the availability of defender Sam Gwynne, who has missed out of late with a similar problem, as the Bulls desperately go in search of their first home league victory of the season. Full-back Ryan Green definitely returns into contention having finally completed his three-match suspension for the red card at Shrewsbury in November, with the raft of postponements only proving to prolong his stay on the sidelines. Defender Joe Heath has extended his loan stay from Exeter by another month and is likely to keep his place in the back four. Torquay have a clean bill of health for their visit to the bottom of the table Bulls. The Gulls have been out of action since December 11, where they lost to high-flyers Chesterfield. The three-week absence means the United squad are raring to go, according to manager Paul Buckle, whose team could go into the top six with victory. "We need to get refocused on the job in hand, which is staying in the play-offs," said Buckle in the Herald Express. "Everybody here is looking forward to playing a match again. The players can't wait." Buckle said he had concerns over his player's sharpness ahead of the trip to Edgar Street, but could name an unchanged side from the one that lost at Chesterfield.

Bulls fight back to claim point Hereford twice fought back to salvage a 2-2 draw against a free-flowing Torquay side at Edgar Street. Both goalkeepers were in the action in the opening five minutes, with Torquay's Scott Bevan saving from Guillem Bauza, while at the other end Hereford's Adam Bartlett dived to stop a shot by Chris Zebroski on the line. Hereford's French striker Mathieu Manset also shot wide of the Torquay goalmouth from 25 yards. Torquay, however, took the lead in the 25th minute when Eunan O'Kane latched on to the ball 12 yards out before rifling past Bartlett into the roof of the net. Ashley Hemmings also went close to increasing the Torquay lead when he drilled a rasping 35-yard shot against the crossbar. Hereford rallied to draw level in the 31st minute when Stuart Fleetwood took advantage of a mix-up between Bevan and Mark Ellis before netting from close range. But a minute before the break Torquay regained the lead when Elliot Benyon drove the ball past Bartlett after a shot by Hemmings had been blocked. Hereford, however, levelled again in the 66th minute when Manset back-heeled the ball into the net after Bevan had dropped it in a goal mouth melee. Torquay's leading marksman Benyon went close to snatching a winner for the Gulls when he rifled the ball against the Hereford post late in the second half.
