Stockport bounced back from two successive defeats with a well-deserved victory against a disappointing Hereford side.

Cash-strapped Stockport got themselves off to a terrific start with an opening goal after only 13 seconds.

Hereford skipper Karl Broadhurst mis-kicked a simple clearance and in nipped Dominic Blizzard, who raced clear before tucking a shot past goalkeeper Craig Samson.

Minutes later, Samson kept out Oli Johnson's powerful shot at the near post and the hosts dominated the early stages.

Paul Turnbull was next to go close for Stockport when he fired a low shot inches wide, before Hereford striker Steve Guinan responded when he turned smartly before shooting just over from 20 yards.

Hereford started to gain a foothold in the game and they equalised after 27 minutes.

Jennison Myrie-Williams found space on the right before crossing for Sam Hewson, who guided home a shot into the roof of the net from ten yards.

It only took Stockport six minutes to regain the lead. Loan defender Robbie Threlfall swung in a corner kick and there was Matty McNeil, who dived in to head home at the far post.

Johnson almost made 3-1 just before half-time but his shot from an acute angle flew just over.

Stockport started the second half brightly and just three minutes in Tommy Rowe saw a shot deflected narrowly over.

However, the hosts did go 3-1 up on 52 minutes. Teenager Matty Mainwaring turned past Richard Rose before firing home across goalkeeper Samson.

Richard Jackson came close for Hereford when he volleyed just wide, but Stockport remained on top and scored again through Leon McSweeney in the 76th minute to complete the rout.
