Match Report

Yeovil came from behind to collect three points with an excellent performance at home to Hartlepool United.

And two victories in five days has put them back in contention for a League One play-off place for a second successive year.

The Glovers have had a difficult season with manager Russell Slade seldom able to field the same team two weeks running as injuries mounted, but now he can see daylight at the end of the tunnel.

However, it was Danny Wilson's Hartlepool who struck first with a great goal from Michael Mackay.

In the tenth minute, Mackay shimmied past Scott Guyett on the edge of the box and curled a delightful shot past the left arm of keeper Steve Mildenhall into the top corner.

Yeovil hit back and scored twice midway through the half.

They were in luck when Anthony Sweeney cleared off the line from James Walker on 13 minutes.

However, their luck ran out when central defender Godwin Antwi, on loan from Liverpool, had to go off to have a head wound bandaged asnd Yeovil found space in his absence to score twice.

On 27 minutes, a perfect corner from Yeovil's loan signing Zoltan Stieber was firmly headed home by skipper Terry Skiverton and four minutes later Marcus Stewart found space to head in Paul Warne's cross.

Hartlepool brought two good saves from Mildenhall before the break but their best chance of an equaliser came midway through the second period when substitute Richie Barker flung himself at a cross but failed to connect when a goal seemed likely.

Yeovil have lost several single goal leads in the closing stages of matches this season, but this time they scored a third to clinch victory.

Eddie Nolan tried a back pass to his goalkeeper Jan Budtz but his shot was woefully short and substitute Lloyd Owusu powered in to score his ninth goal of the season at the second attempt after the keeper had superbly blocked his first shot.
