Brown could make Pools return
Hartlepool hope to welcome back striker James Brown when Exeter travel to Victoria Park.
Brown returned to training this week after recovering from the ankle injury which kept him out of last weekend's defeat at MK Dons and could come straight back into the starting line-up.
Midfielder Joe Gamble will play no part against the Grecians as he remains sidelined with an ankle problem.
Defender Neil Austin played an hour for the reserve team in midweek and will be hoping to get the nod to return to the starting line-up for the first time since the opening day of the season after shaking off an ankle problem.
Teenage goalkeeper Jake Kean will be on the bench after signing from Blackburn on Thursday to provide back-up for Scott Flinders, with Andy Rafferty (broken fingers) is out for three months.
Exeter will once again be without skipper Matt Taylor when they make the long journey.
The defender is struggling with a back injury and although a scan revealed no serious damage, he is still not ready to return.
Former Tottenham trainee Troy Archibald-Henville will keep his place in the starting line-up in the absence of Taylor.
Striker Marcus Stewart also remains sidelined as he has been troubled by back spasms but boss Paul Tisdale has no other injury problems to contend with.
Stand-in skipper Steve Tully will face Pools despite having 12 stitches in a wound above his eye during the victory over Charlton last weekend.
Strike duo Jamie Cureton and Richard Logan will be hoping to be recalled to the starting line-up.
Grecians end away-day blues
Exeter enjoyed their first away win in almost a year in a 3-2 victory over Hartlepool which came thanks to a second-half turnaround.
Trailing 2-1 at the break, the Grecians had two John O'Flynn goals in 10 minutes to thank to earn a first win on their travels since last November.
They took the lead with a classy individual effort from midfielder Ryan Harley. He skipped around Gary Liddle twice and keeper Scott Flinders before rolling in his near post finish after a mazy run.
But Pools pressed the visitors for a sustained period and were rewarded with two goals in as many minutes. First Ritchie Humphreys cracked in from 16 yards after picking his spot past keeper Paul Jones.
Then Antony Sweeney prodded in after Jones saved a Colin Larkin header on the line.
But just three minutes into the second period, a slide rule pass from Harley played in O'Flynn behind the static defence and he confidently drilled a low finish past Flinders.
Ten minutes later the Irishman was picked out by Scott Golbourne from the left wing and he headed across Flinders from close range.
The nearest Pools came to a leveller was when substitute Denis Behan headed against the woodwork and the ball rolled across the face of goal.
