Hartley back in Pools plans Hartlepool defender Peter Hartley is expected to go straight back into the starting line-up against Brentford following suspension. Hartley missed the 1-1 draw at Colchester on Friday due to a one-game ban, with teenager Jack Baldwin stepping into the back four. Manager Neale Cooper could make room for Baldwin elsewhere in his starting XI, but Hartley is likely to resume his central defensive partnership with Sam Collins. Another teenager, striker Luke James, could also return to the side after starting on the bench on Friday. James has been struggling with a back problem in recent weeks but showed no ill-effects after replacing Ryan Noble for the final 15 minutes at Colchester. Strikers James Brown (groin), James Poole (hamstring), Colin Larkin, Colin Nish (both knee) and Callum Hassan (hamstring) all remain sidelined. Brentford look set to be without skipper Jonathan Douglas. The midfielder left Griffin Park in a leg brace and was taken to hospital for X-rays after he was on the end of a crude lunge from Steven Schumacher in Saturday's 3-0 win over Bury. The Bees are depleted in midfield as skipper Kevin O'Connor is still out with a foot injury, Myles Weston has an ankle problem and loanee Adam Forshaw was forced to go back to parent club Everton with a broken jaw. On-loan Watford defender Adam Thompson came on for Douglas but Niall McGinn was also introduced late on and he could start at Victoria Park.
