Match Preview

Brown: Dons must be wary Manager Craig Brown says his Aberdeen side must be prepared for a fight against a Hamilton side scrapping for Clydesdale Bank Premier League survival. Brown takes his Dons team to his hometown, where Accies are seeking to build on their defeat of Hibernian last weekend with a first home win of the season. Although 12 points clear of Accies, mathematically the 10th-placed Dons themselves are not yet safe. And Brown knows his side - with one win in their last 10 games - must be ready for a battle at New Douglas Park. He said: "There's pressure to win every match and Hamilton are up for it because they won for the first time in a long time at Easter Road. "It will be a highly-competitive match, they're fighting for their lives, but we've got to get a result to try to get some stability back. "I'm quite sure we're capable of doing it, but we'll have to be switched on and we'll have to be ready for this. "I think it will be quite an onslaught Hamilton will give us on Monday. "There's an enthusiasm about the club and there's a desperation to get points. "I have the highest regard for the management, Billy Reid's a shrewd guy and his players, on the evidence of what I saw at Easter Road, are really ready for the final five games of the season." The Dons have no new injury concerns but captain Paul Hartley is out for "the foreseeable future". Midfielder Hartley suffered a recurrence of his knee injury in a bid to get fit for the Scottish Cup semi-final last Sunday, which 10-man Aberdeen lost 4-0 to Celtic. Rory McArdle (shoulder) and David McNamee (hamstring) remain out along with long-term injury victims Yoann Folly, Darren Mackie and Fraser Fyvie. Meanwhile, Hamilton manager Billy Reid insists he has no complaints about playing on Easter Monday as his side attempt to resurrect their survival bid. Accies host Aberdeen in an unfamiliar 4.15pm slot as part of a run of four games that sees them in action in front of the television cameras on either a Sunday or Monday. Despite being denied a Saturday outing during that spell, Reid claims it will be business as usual for bottom side Hamilton as they aim to build on last week's win over Hibernian. "I don't have any problem with it," he said. "You would rather play on a Saturday at 3pm but the Old Firm get it continually throughout the season. "We are pitched in with the 4.15pm game and my job is to make sure the players are prepared for a 4.15pm start on Monday. "It's slightly unusual for us but we'll get on with it." David Elebert is set to miss out for Hamilton. A hamstring injury kept Elebert out of last week's win over Hibernian and he is also rated doubtful. Defenders Mark McLaughlin and Martin Canning remain on the sidelines.

Match Report

Accies denied vital victory Hamilton were denied their first Clydesdale Bank Premier League home win of the season - and the chance to boost their slim survival hopes - when substitute Nick Blackman claimed a share of the points for Aberdeen in a 1-1 draw. Dougie Imrie marked his 50th appearance for Accies with the opener after Dons forward Chris Maguire was denied from the penalty spot by goalkeeper Tomas Cerny. But Blackman struck just two minutes after coming off the bench to leave Hamilton nine points adrift ahead of next week's relegation clash with nearest rivals St Mirren. Hamilton initially made two changes from the side who defeated Hibernian for the visit of the Dons. Cerny recovered from illness to reclaim the gloves from Sean Murdoch, while David Hopkirk started ahead of Ali Crawford, who was named on the bench. But Simon Mensing presumably pulled up in the warm-up as Accies were forced to make a late change to the team-sheet, drafting Mark McLaughlin into the side. Aberdeen made just one change from the side who lost to Celtic in the Scottish Cup semi-final, with Michael Paton added to the team and Josh Magennis named among the substitutes. Hamilton carved out the first real chance when Nigel Hasselbaink surged into the box only for his shot to deflect off Andrew Considine and fall wide. At the other end, Aberdeen were threatening when Maguire unleashed from 25 yards and Cerny was called into action to push past his left-hand upright. Accies had another decent opportunity when David Buchanan released Imrie into the box and he squared for Hasselbaink but Considine was first to the ball to clear before the striker could connect in front of goal. The Dons had the chance to pile on the pressure when they won a free-kick 35 yards out and Cerny was called into action to punch Maguire's swerving effort out of play. The Hamilton goalkeeper had to react quickly again at the resultant corner to block a bullet header from Considine after he threw himself in front of Robert Milsom's flag-kick. With half-time fast approaching Imrie's corner broke for Hopkirk but he nodded just over from six yards, before Imrie's swerving 30-yard drive crashed off the crossbar. Aberdeen were the more dangerous team after the restart and were awarded a penalty after 52 minutes when referee Calum Murray ruled that Steven Smith was fouled in the box by Gary McDonald. Maguire stepped up for the spot-kick - Aberdeen's fifth against Hamilton this season - but was denied by a great save from Cerny as he produced his third penalty block of the campaign. Maguire attempted to turn provider when he swept a lovely ball into the path of Scott Vernon in front of goal but McLaughlin came to the rescue on this occasion when he hooked off the line. Instead, it was Hamilton who grabbed the opener after 64 minutes when Imrie raced onto a pass from Hasselbaink before keeping his cool and slotting past goalkeeper Jamie Langfield. Langfield was then forced out of the action and replaced by Mark Howard just two minutes later after he was caught on the face by the boot of team-mate Zander Diamond. Aberdeen replaced Vernon with Blackman after 73 minutes and he grabbed the equaliser just two minutes later. Maguire supplied the pass, squaring across the face of goal for Blackman to rifle home at the far post and haul the Dons back into the match. Blackman was then denied his second goal of the day when his shot bounced off Cerny and crashed off the upright as the match ended all-square.
