Match Preview

Same again for Gills Gillingham boss Andy Hessenthaler will be forced to face Rotherham with an unchanged squad. The Gills boss has no new injury or suspension problems to contend with but defenders Josh Gowling, Tony Sinclair and Connor Essam remain unavailable, while winger Andy Barcham also misses out. Gowling, who has missed the 0-0 draw with Oxford after limping out of the 2-2 draw with Stevenage, continues to struggle with a knock. Sinclair has returned to full training following a foot problem but will not be risked, Essam has returned from his loan spell at Bishops Stortford with an ankle injury and Barcham will continue to miss out with an ankle injury of his own. Midfielders Jack Payne and Luke Rooney are both pushing for starting roles after their substitute appearances against the U's, while attacker Dennis Oli is also pushing for a more prominent role after his late cameo. Ronnie Moore will pick from an unchanged squad for Rotherham - who hope to end a 23-year hoodoo at Priestfield. The Millers have not won against the Gills in Kent since 1988, but Moore will choose from the same players that despatched Crewe on Saturday. That means skipper Ryan Cresswell is the only absentee as he continues his comeback from a broken collarbone. The defender, who has been out since December, has been training with the squad and is set to join in physical contact providing he gets the all-clear from a specialist on Wednesday. Moore will continue to play his son Ian Thomas-Moore on the left, allowing strike duo Adam Le Fondre and Ryan Taylor - who have both put contract talks on hold with the club - to continue their 25-goal partnership.

Match Report

McDonald steers Gills to win In-form striker Cody McDonald scored two first-half goals to set Gillingham on their way to a 3-1 victory over promotion-rivals Rotherham . The on-loan Norwich hitman took his season tally 17 with a goal either side of Nicky Law's seventh-minute stunner. And the Gills, who are now unbeaten in four, secured the points a minute from time when substitute Dennis Oli broke his duck for the campaign. The home side took the lead in the fifth minute, McDonald bundling home his 16th of the season after being released by Adebayo Akinfenwa. Rotherham hit back immediately when Law curled home a wonderful 20-yard free-kick for his third goal of the season. The Gills continued to dominate and deservedly had the lead again in the 36th minute when McDonald fired home expertly with his left foot from a tight angle for his fifth goal in four. The Millers grew into the game in the second-half and should have drawn level in the 85th minute but Ian Thomas-Moore somehow fired over with the goal gaping. It would have been harsh on Gillingham and, with a minute remaining, Oli smashed in off the post as Rotherham slipped to their fourth away defeat on the trot and out of the automatic promotion places.
