Duo set for Gills recalls
Captain Andy Frampton and leading scorer Danny Kedwell are likely to earn recalls for Gillingham`s home clash against Northampton.
Defender Frampton has only made the bench for the last three games since returning from a calf injury while Kedwell has joined him among the substitutes for the the last two after a toe problem.
But back-to-back defeats against Swindon and Morecambe appear to have convinced Andy Hessenthaler change is needed, with the Gills boss holding a positive meeting with his players this week in a bid to get the club`s promotion charge back on track.
Midfielder Charlie Lee and striker Jo Kuffour have been struggling with a virus but are expected to be okay.
Lewis Montrose serves the final game of his three-match suspension while Barry Fuller (knee), Danny Spiller (ankle), Dennis Oli (hamstring) and Adam Birchall (knee) all remain sidelined.
Northampton boss Gary Johnson looks set to stick with the same starting XI for the trip.
Following the 3-1 home defeat to Hereford, Johnson made four changes for the visit of Rotherham last weekend and Town halted a four-game losing league run with a 1-1 draw.
Loan signing Derek Niven made his debut in midfield alongside youngster Chris Arthur, while former Gillingham man Adebayo Akinfenwa returned from a fractured jaw along with fellow forward Lewis Young.
"I suspect Arron Davies (back and hamstring) won't be available for Saturday, but to be honest we probably aren't looking to make any changes," Johnson said. "The team that played last weekend deserves to start again and it would be nice to get a run where we can keep the same team.
"We've made Jake Robinson and Bas Savage available for loan this week but of course both of them can still turn it around and have a career here. They are both good pros and we had a practice game on Wednesday in which both those two worked very hard."
On-loan midfielder George Baldock, on the bench for the Rotherham game, has since returned to parent club MK Dons.
Gills leave it late
Danny Kedwell netted an injury-time penalty to hand Gillingham, who nearly threw a two-goal lead, a 4-3 victory against Northampton.
Striker Jo Kuffour bagged a first-half hat-trick for the Gills, with the Cobblers replying through Saido Berahino.
But Northampton responded through Kelvin Langmead and Berahino's second before Gillingham were awarded a second penalty, which Kedwell converted.
Kuffour opened the scoring on 10 minutes when he volleyed in Matt Lawrence's right-wing cross before doubling the lead on the half-hour mark with a backheeled finish.
The Cobblers pulled one back when Berahino fired in from 25 yards but, in first-half injury time, Gillingham were awarded a penalty for a foul on Kuffour, who made no mistake from the spot.
Kuffour wasted a chance for a fourth after the break before Langmead reduced the deficit with a superb angled finish on 54 minutes.
And five minutes later the visitors snatched an improbable equaliser from a well-worked free-kick routine which Berahino lashed in.
But in the dying moments Frank Nouble was bundled over and Kedwell took the responsibility to give Gillingham three valuable points.
