Match Report

Struggling Fulham could find themselves in the relegation zone if they lose at home to Newcastle United in Saturday's late kick-off.

The Cottagers are currently in the midst of a four-match winless run - including three defeats - and are level on points with Sunderland in the final relegation place.

Last weekend's 3-0 defeat at Everton saw them extend their winless run on the road to nine games, but thankfully for under-pressure manager Lawrie Sanchez, their record at Craven Cottage is markedly better.

The Cottagers have picked up nine points from a possible 24 on home soil and Sanchez issued a rallying cry after the defeat at Goodison Park.

"Football is a moving feast and we come home to Newcastle and Wigan, two crucial games for us and we have to get points, there is no two ways about that," he warned.

Sanchez's first full season at the helm of the London club has not been helped by a lengthy injury list which sees seven first-team players continue to be sidelined - including captain Brian McBride and £3million summer signing Lee Cook.

Carlos Bocanegra, David Healy and Seol Ki-Hyeon could return to the team after starting the Everton game on the bench with Shefki Kuqi, Danny Murphy and Elliot Omozusi's places most at risk.

Sam Allardyce has seen his stock dramatically rise after guiding Newcastle United to a resurgence in recent weeks.

The former Bolton boss was reportedly close to the sack earlier this month following a dismal run which saw the Magpies plummet into the bottom half of the table, but a 1-1 draw with leaders Arsenal and a last-gasp 2-1 win over Birmingham City saw the storm clouds clear.

Habib Beye's 90th-minute winner earned Newcastle a first win in seven games, and afterwards Allardyce was in jubilant mood.

"It's a really, really big three points. Nothing else really mattered today but three points - and we got them," he said.

"We've worked very, very hard over the last seven days - Blackburn and then Arsenal and now Birmingham - and now finally got what we deserved."

The Magpies must now attempt to win two successive league games for only the second time this season.

Michael Owen is still one game away from a return following his latest injury picked up on England duty, while Damien Duff and Claudio Cacapa will also be missing despite returning to training.

Nicky Butt picked up an abdominal strain last weekend and is rated doubtful so Emre could return in midfield as Newcastle look to end a three-match losing sequence against Fulham.
