Match Report

Fulham have only 11 games to save their top-flight status after a dismal season for the west London club.

However, Saturday's visit of Manchester United to Craven Cottage is hardly a home banker as the Cottagers are 19th in the table on the back of a run of one win from their last 15 league games.

Roy Hodgson's side have lost 1-0 to both Middlesbrough and West Ham United since a surprise 2-1 success over Aston Villa in early January, but the experienced manager is refusing to throw in the towel just yet.

Speaking after going down to a late Hammers winner last weekend, he said: "All I can say is that in the games I've seen us play, we're not getting the points. I'm not seeing us outplayed. I'm seeing the boys work very hard and create goal chances."

But the table does not lie and Fulham are currently four points adrift of safety and in need of quick points.

Their main problem this season has been a lack of goals as only rock-bottom Derby County have a worse record when it comes to finding the back of the net.

The return of USA striker Brian McBride to the starting line-up last weekend after a lengthy absence is a major boost, but the fact remains that the Cottagers' leading scorer is winger Clint Dempsey with a paltry haul of six goals.

Manchester United's title defence received a second wind last weekend when they cut the gap on leaders Arsenal with a 5-1 demolition of hapless Newcastle United.

The Red Devils took full advantage of a draw from the league leaders to crank up the pressure on the north London club with Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo both helping themselves to braces.

Ronaldo, the Premier League's leading marksman, also scored both goals in a 2-0 win over Fulham when the sides last met in January at Old Trafford.

However, with a Champions League last 16 second leg meeting with Lyon on the horizon, United boss Sir Alex Ferguson could shuffle his pack with fit-again former Fulham striker Louis Saha in need of a start.

Anderson, Paul Scholes, Owen Hargreaves and John O'Shea could also feature after warming the substitute's bench last weekend.

But ominously for Fulham, the champions have responded to a surprise derby defeat to Manchester City last month with a solid European showing against Lyon and routs of both Newcastle in the league and Arsenal in the FA Cup.

United have also won their last six games against Fulham and lost only once to the Cottagers in the Premier League era.
