Live Commentary

90 mins

Full time at Craven Cottage and Fulham get a pricless three points from a pretty poor game.

90 mins

I don't think there is going to be any late drama here, Everton look very tired after their midweek Uefa Cup antics and do not look like scoring at all.

90 mins

Some of the Everton fans have decided enough is enough and are making their way to the exits.

90 mins

The fourth official indicates three minutes of added time.

89 mins

Yet another chance for a second goal for Fulham, this time Eddie Johnson made himself useful and fired a shot not far over the bar. Good effort from the American striker.

88 mins

Fulham have made a very reassuring performance in the second half and will need to continue playing like this for the rest of the season if they want to survive.

86 mins

Jimmy Bullard is replaced by Moritz Volz.

85 mins

Fulham are keeping up the pressure on Everton and seem to be pushing for a second goal. Who said attack wasn't the best form of defence?

84 mins

I don't think Craven Cottage could be any tenser. The home fans sense a much needed victory and it may just be around the corner if they can prevent Everton from scoring in the closing minutes.

81 mins

On the other hand Kasey Keller has been excellent throughout the game, making many assuring takes of the ball and perhaps arguably keeping his side in the game.

79 mins

Eddie Johnson has had a very poor game this afternoon and has no where near justified his three million pound transfer fee Fulham paid for him. Moments ago he was unchallenged and had time to place a shot but instead sent it about a mile over the bar

77 mins

Joesph Yobo did well to deal with the high ball that got caught in the swirling wind and Eddie Johnson wasn't able to get on the end of the pass from Hangeland.

75 mins

Carlos bocanegra replaces Danny Murphy.

74 mins

Fulham are taking their time with everything now and Roy Hodgson will be telling them not to get complacent with just fifteen minutes of the game remaining.

72 mins

A very presentable opportunity for Eddie Johnson but the American snatched at the chance and fired a poor volley way over the crossbar. The goal has made the game a lot more open now.

71 mins

A great chance for Everton to equalise immediately, Arteta's precise corner was met by a free header from Joseph Yobo who steered the ball just wide of the goal.

70 mins

Everton have reacted well to the goal and hit Fulham straight on the counter attack with Hughes being forced to put the ball out for a corner.

68 mins

GOAL! FULHAM 1 - 0 EVERTON (McBRIDE) Brian McBride turned the ball into the back of the net with a well placed header to give Fulham a priceless goal.

68 mins

A nice bit of football and some excellent interchanging from Everton between Tony Hibbert and Leon Osman, but Hibbert's powerful cross was claimed by Keller.

65 mins

Leighton Baines replaces Steven Pienaar.

64 mins

A good chance for Everton and Phil Neville to put the away side ahead, but Kasey Keller did well to rush off his line and block the shot with his rather large stature. Good defending from Fulham.

63 mins

Fulham won only the second corner of the game which Bullard floated in, but Johnson's header at the back post flew way over the crossbar.

61 mins

Both Fulham and their home crowd have lifted themselves. The noise level has risen here and Fulham are looking more promising going forward, this seems like the period of the game where Fulham must score.

59 mins

Pienaar failed to win a free kick up one end which allowed Fulham to break on the counter attack. Eddie Johnson used his pace to burst past the wrong-footed Lescott and drive the ball across the face of the goal for Jagielka to knock out for a corner

57 mins

Arteta's curling free kick just glanced the top of the wall and deflected off Steven Pienaar for a goal kick. What a waste from Everton.

56 mins

The first yellow card of the game goes to Danny Murphy after his honest attempt to get the ball just caught Phil Neville from behind to give Everton a free kick in a dangerous position.

53 mins

It's a good job Aaron Hughes managed to get his body in the way of Mikael Arteta's flying shot because it looked to be moving towards the bottom corner of the goal. It must of hurt him too.

52 mins

Simon Davies tried a very audacious right footed volley from the left side of the penalty area but his effort went seemingly closer to the corner flag than the goal. Poor from Davies.

50 mins

Leon Andreasen looks in some discomfort and is holding his arm after falling awkwardly from jumping for a header.

48 mins

Joleon Lescott tries to claim for a penalty after it appeared he was nudged in the back by Brede Hangeland. There was no reaction from Steve Bennett though and the game carried on.

47 mins

Danny Murphy commits a silly foul after a neat bit of footwork from Mikael Arteta, who was very quiet in the first half of the game.

45 mins

Everton get the game back underway at a rain swept Craven Cottage.

45 mins

A half of very few chances comes to an end with neither side being able to test their opposing Goalkeeper's.

43 mins

A good chance goes begging for Everton as Yakubu did well to find five yards in front of him, burst into the space and let fly to a low drive which Kasey Keller did well to get down and save. Good play from Yakubu.

42 mins

Everton have a good record away from this season with eight away wins since August.

40 mins

Simon Davies failed to find a connection with Leon Andreasen as both players had different ideas in mind, Davies played a clever ball inside Lescott but Andreasen didn't quite see it and instead wanted the ball played out wide to his feet.

38 mins

Everton won a free kick in a decent position with Brede Hangeland committing a needless foul on Pienaar. But Carlsey's cross into the area was poor and the ball floated out for a goal kick.

36 mins

The rain is lashing down in West London and adding to the already drenched playing surface at Craven Cottage, making things a little tricky for the players out there.

34 mins

Everton have been relatively creative in midfield but definately lack the presence of the injured Tim Cahill who apparently is only one week away from full fitness.

32 mins

Some good persistance from Eddie Johnson to chase down Phil Jagielka and win a throw in right in the Everton corner. That's the sort of attitude that Fulham are going to need in their relegation battle if they are to have any chance of surviving.

29 mins

Fulham have quietened down after their decent start to the game, they haven't really created a lot for their strikers but Johnson and McBride have both been relatively immobile so far.

26 mins

Everton look to have eventually woken up now. This time it was Yakubu who moved past Brede Hangeland like a battering ram and fired a powerful shot at goal, only for Kasey Keller to get his body behind his effort and save comfortably.

24 mins

Everton's first effort on goal came from Steven Pienaar, the little South African cut inside on his right foot and hit his shot off Leon Osman to deflect it wide for a goal kick.

22 mins

A nice little fact for you. Fulham have conceded more goals at home this season than any other team in the league, leading the way with 26 goals.

20 mins

Everton have moved Phil Neville into midfield and substitute Tony Hibbert has slotted in a right back after the forced change for Johnson.

18 mins

The word from the Everton camp is that Andy Johnson has a slight groin strain.

16 mins

The oldest player in the Premier League this season, Kasey Keller did well to come and claim Lescott's cross to prevent Yakubu from getting on the end of it.

15 mins

Everton are forced into a change with the injured Andy Johnson being replaced by Tony Hibbert.

13 mins

McBride's chance minutes ago has made the home side a little more lively. Leon Andreasen showed some desire to get past Joleon Lescott and play a ball across the face of goal but Phil Jagielka was there to mop up the danger.

11 mins

First chance of the game goes to Fulham. Lovely play by Simon Davies to chip a pass into the penalty area for Brian McBride to volley wide. It wasn't close but it's a sign for Fulham.

9 mins

Fulham's three million pound signing Eddie Johnson from Kansas City Wizards looks very rusty up front and has yet to put a good touch on the ball.

7 mins

The pitch has got a lot of zip on it here at Craven Cottage, I know theres been quite a bit of rain but the playing surface looks in top condition.

5 mins

Fulham put together some good interchanging passes and forced Phil Neville to concede a thrown in deep in his own half, a little bit of pressure on Everton here early on.

3 mins

A sloppy start to the game, with neither side being able to keep sustained possession of the ball. Fulham's Brian McBride looks up for todays game though, wearing the skippers arm band the American looks set for a battle with Phil Jagielka.

1 mins

Fulham had the chance to break early on with Eddie Johnson using his pace to burst forward, but his poor pass to Jimmy Bullard allowed Everton to regain possession easily.

1 mins

Match Report

Despite picking up a point at Blackburn Rovers last weekend thanks to Jimmy Bullard's last-gasp free-kick, Fulham remain odds-on to join Derby County in the Championship next season.

Since winning promotion to the Premier League in 2001, the Cottagers have only finished in the top half of the table once, although last season's flirtation with the drop was their worst campaign of the decade, before this year.

Roy Hodgson's side still have to play Newcastle United, Derby County, Sunderland, Reading and Birmingham City in the last two months of the season so have a chance of beating the drop, although their dreadful away from could seal their fate.

After winning only one away game last term, Fuham have failed to win any of the 14 matches on their travels this season, scoring only eight goals in the process.

Even at Craven Cottage they have only managed to collect three points in just three games - against Bolton Wanderers, Aston Villa and Reading - while last weekend's 1-1 draw at Ewood Park ended a three-match losing sequence.

Hodgson has few injury concerns although Jari Litmanen and Alexei Smertin again look set to miss out.

Everton's push for a top-four finish has gathered speed in the last month with four successive victories keeping them on the coat-tails of Liverpool.

David Moyes has no suspension concerns although James Vaughan (knee), Nuno Valente (thigh), Leon Osman and Manuel Fernandes (both groin) look set to miss the trip to the capital.

However, Mikel Arteta has finally recovered from his niggling groin problem and should be able to start at Craven Cottage.

Moyes will be hoping there is no repeat of last season's scoreline in the game between the two clubs when Fulham won 1-0 thanks to Claus Jensen's goal midway through the second half.

Meanwhile, at Goodison Park in December, Everton beat Fulham 3-0 thanks to Yakubu's second-half hat-trick.
