Match Preview
Gallacher sits out first leg Forfar have a full squad of players available to manager Dick Campbell for their first-leg play-off semi-final against Ayr with the exception of goalkeeper Scott Gallacher. Gallacher is struggling with a thigh problem, but Chris Templeman is available after suspension and looks set to return to the starting line up for a tie that Forfar's assistant manager Ian Campbell believes is too close to call. Ayr finished ahead of Forfar in the table on goal difference and Campbell said: "There's nothing between the sides and we're viewing this as a game that lasts 180 minutes. "Ayr have a really strong midfield and dangerous strikers, but we'll be well organised and ready for kick off. Bring it on." Ayr defender Dean Keenan will miss out through injury, but otherwise manager Brian Reid, who believes the side that handles the pressure best will prosper, has no other injury or suspension problems. Reid said: "It's down now to the character of the players and who copes best with the pressure that's on both teams. "Forfar have very experienced players and have used the loan market well to augment their squad, but we will be ready for them as we have some good players of our own. "It will be a night for calm heads as there's nothing between the sides and nothing will be decided at Station Park. It will be a night for keeping our discipline and remaining focused." end

Match Report
Honest Men walking on Ayr after win Ayr gained the upper hand in the race for a First Division place as they eased to a 4-1 win at Forfar in the first leg of their play-off semi-final. Ayr, who finished second in the Second Division, took the lead in the second minute, with Michael Moffat guiding the ball home from 12 yards. It was all square after 10 minutes when an inswinging corner from the right from Iain Campbell was headed in at the near post Chris Templeman. Forfar`s Graham Gibson slammed a shot against the post on the half hour, before the visitors snatched a second. Moffat`s cross was inadvertently turned past his own goalkeeper by Jamie Bishop. Ayr almost made it 3-1 at the start of the second half but Martyn Campbell`s close-range header was parried to safety by Neil Duffy. The third goal did arrive shortly afterwards when Alan Trouten`s pass allowed Ryan McCann to slot home and Trouten was denied a fourth by a stunning save by Duffy. Andy Rodgers wrapped up a convincing victory with a fourth late on, coolly converting Stuart Bannigan`s cross from the left.
