Match Report

Two in-form teams with European ambitions meet at Fratton Park as Portsmouth play host to Everton.

Pompey are unbeaten in their last nine Premier League outing, with their last game ending in a comfortable 2-0 victory at lowly Birmingham City thanks to goals from Sulley Muntari and Niko Kranjcar.

That run of form has seen boss Harry Redknapp linked with the vacant England manager's job, but he insists he is more than happy to try and complete the job of turning Pompey into a top-flight powerhouse.

"I am happy at Portsmouth and am just getting on with my job. I do not want to leave here. I want to stay," he said.

"I have had a few offers to leave, I'd be a liar if I said I hadn't, but I'm very happy here."

Redknapp currently has few injury problems to contend with, with Nwankwo Kanu struggling with a hamstring problem, while Linvoy Primus has only just undergone major knee surgery.

However, his eye may have been taken off the ball in recent days following his arrest on suspicion of conspiracy to defraud and false accounting.

Redknapp has since vehemently protested his innocence, but it remains to be see how the drama has affected Pompey's preparations.

The Toffees arrive on the south coast buoyed by a 7-1 thrashing of Sunderland last time out, with David Moyes' side having gone unbeaten in their last four league games since their controversial derby loss to Liverpool.

However, Moyes has now lost the services of his long-time number two, Alan Irvine, who has moved on to take charge at Preston North End.

Midfield ace Mikel Arteta believes his side will cope with Irvine's departure and move on to even better things.

He told the Daily Echo: "I do not think that we are at our peak yet, hopefully there is more to come.

"We are still only about eighth in the table and we certainly aim to be higher than that. We want to be up at the top so we have to be better and to improve."

Moyes has few major injury concerns as his side prepare to try and avenge a 2-0 defeat at Fratton Park in last season's corresponding fixture.
