Match Report

Derby County's bid to pull clear of trouble at the bottom of the Premier League faces another stern test with the visit of Everton to Pride Park.

The Rams have won just once in the league this term, while they picked up their first away point of the campaign last weekend with a goalless draw at Fulham.

The stalemate at Craven Cottage saw boss Billy Davies field Dean Leacock as a holding midfielder in front of Claude Davis and Darren Moore, but he may be forced to change that set-up against the Toffees.

Davis and Leacock are major doubts due to groin and back problems, but Jay McEveley is expected to recover from neck and back injuries.

Summer signing Andy Todd will miss out due to ongoing injury problems, with Davies saying: "Andy is complaining about his back and hamstring and he is seeing a specialist.

"Andy looks uncomfortable and feels uncomfortable. Until we get that right, we will just have to keep working with him and hope we will eventually get it sorted."

The Toffees travel to the Midlands hoping to erase the memory of their controversial 2-1 derby defeat by Liverpool last weekend.

Boss David Moyes was fuming after seeing his side concede two penalties, before referee Mark Clattenburg denied the Toffees a last-gasp spot-kick of their own.

The game also saw Phil Neville and Tony Hibbert red-carded and they will both miss out through suspension, with Phil Jagielka and Tim Cahill likely to be handed starts.

After a solid start to the campaign, Everton have hit the buffers in recent weeks, having lost four of their last five league games to drop down to mid-table obscurity.

Moyes is still shorn of the services of star striker Andy Johnson due to injury, but James Vaughan is back in contention after recovering from a shoulder problem.

The two sides last met in the 2001-02 season, with Everton edging a seven-goal thriller 4-3 at Pride Park, with Alan Stubbs among the goalscorers for the Toffees.
