Match Report

McClaren said: "I'm delighted, it was the performance we wanted and the performance we asked for.

"We defended well as a team, we worked hard as a team, passed the ball and the biggest thing was the way we controlled the game through possession, our passing and patience.

"We brought out the best in the players. We played with a bit of freedom after the first goal and the passing was excellent."

He added: "There was some scintillating football and some great goals.

"At this level you have to keep the ball, with rotation and movement and we had that and that's what pleased me.

"Controlling the game through possession is key because it gives you a breather at the right times.

"The World Cup is over. We've got to get on with things, we've made a good start and we must maintain that standard."
