Elgin City boss Ross jack could hand new signings David Gormley and Blair Lawrie their debut's against Montrose. Striker Gormley will go straight into the squad following his arrival on loan from Alloa whilst winger Lawrie will also be involved.and respectively. However, midfielder Mark Nicolson will miss out through suspension. The Borough Briggs side are looking to bounce back after a disappointing result and performance at Albion Rovers last week. Manager Jack said: "We will need to put on a better show than we did last week where we just never got going against Albion Rovers. "Montrose will be tricky opponents as they are coming here confident after a good win against Clyde last weekend. The games between us so far this season have been tight but we have come out on top and I will gladly settle for that again." Montrose are without six players as they go looking for revenge after two defeats from the Borough Briggs side already this season. Player/manager Steven Tweed missed out again with a knock and he is joined on the sidelines by injured defenders Gordon Pope, Jonathan Crawford, and Fraser Milligan. Midfielder Nicky Smith also misses out with a knock along with fellow midfielder Chris Hegarty who sits out the last game of his three-match ban. Tweed said: "We have played well against Elgin in both games and have not picked up what we deserved. "Hopefully we can play well again and come home with the three points this time. "We came from a goal behind to beat Clyde in the second half last weekend and we need to start at Elgin where we finished last Saturday."

Elgin up to second after win Elgin moved up to second in the Third Division with a 1-0 win over struggling Montrose at Borough Briggs. Craig Frizzel opened the scoring for the hosts midway through the first half. The midfielder netted his third goal of the season from close range by turning in Jake Inglis' left-wing cross. Dougie Cameron could have equalised shortly afterwards but he turned Aaron Sinclair's cross over the bar from six yards. Sinclair tried his luck after the interval but a speculative 25-yard effort cleared the frame of the goal. With the clock ticking down, Montrose looked to capitalise on their possession but Daryl Nicol's shot was blocked bravely by Elgin's David Niven. Elgin held on for a slender victory to maintain their promotion push, while Montrose remain ninth.
