Match Preview

Kaczan and Jack miss out Elgin will be without defensive duo Paul Kaczan and Zander Jack for the home clash with East Stirling. Central defender Kaczan is struggling with a hamstring strain and Jack has hurt his hand, but manager Ross Jack is determined his men take three points from the fixture brought forward from January 2 in order to climb the table. Jack said: "This is an opportunity for us to get us up the table and into a position where we deserve to be. "We've suffered some cruel luck and missed too many chances, but we have a chance to put things right with a win over East Stirling. "They beat us here earlier in the season and we also have the chance to put that right." East Stirling will be without experienced quartet David Dunn, Craig Donaldson, Craig Tully and Alex Walker. Dunn and Donaldson are both suspended, Tully is absent because of an ankle problem and summer signing Walker is struggling with a calf problem. Assistant coach David Nicholls said: "We played a strong Dumbarton side during the week in a Stirlingshire Cup tie and tried a few things there to compensate for the boys we are missing. "It worked reasonably well and we were unlucky to go down 1-0. "Elgin is not an easy place to go, but we won 2-1 up there last time and we'll take confidence from that."

Match Report

Easy for Elgin Elgin climbed three places with a comfortable 2-0 win over East Stirling. Elgin got off to a dream start when Craig Gunn fired home inside two minutes when his right-footed shot gave Michael Andrew no chance from 12 yards. Elgin continued to put pressure on the Shire goal with Gunn hitting two shots that tested Andrew's reflexes to the full. East Stirling, looking for their first goal in six games, hardly tested Scott Bain in the Black and Whites goal and a shot by substitute Fraser Team was the nearest they got to ending the drought before the break. They fared better after the break with Kevin Watts and Team drilling wide. Their misery completed in the last minutes when, after Stuart Beveridge had brought down Jason Crooks, Barry Wilson converted from the spot.
