Defensive reinforcements boost Elgin hopes Elgin City will look to put last weekend's 6-2 defeat at Berwick behind them when they host East Stirling. Goalkeeper Scott Bain has been recruited on loan from Aberdeen to assist the cause. Steven Edwards is included in the squad for the first time this season, while fellow defender Jamie Duff is in line to finally make his debut. Manager Ross Jack said: "We need to get something from the East Stirling game to get our season going and also to travel to Hearts on Tuesday in confident mood for our Co-operative Insurance Cup tie. "Berwick were good last week but we helped them along with a poor defensive display." East Stirling boss Jim McInally is contemplating changes. The Shire are at full strength and defeated Montrose 2-1 last weekend, but McInally is poised to shuffle his pack. He told the club's official website: "I will try to freshen it up. There are one or two changes I could make, for no other reason than I think we need to be more compact and less gung-ho away from home. "We know Elgin will give us specific problems. They have a 6'8" striker and we don't have the tallest team at the back. So high balls into the box will cause us problems." Assistant coach David Nicholls added: "We have Alex Walker free from injury now and everyone has to work hard to keep their place in the team."

Dunn makes Elgin pay penalty Elgin's latest home defeat leaves them rooted to the foot of Scottish Division Three as they were beaten 2-0 by East Stirling. A David Dunn penalty gave the visitors the lead in the 78th minute after Scott Bain fouled Darren Kelly inside the area. East Stirling then doubled their advantage with a minute left when James Stevenson scored an impressive free-kick from 30 yards. The striker's shot found the top right-hand corner to give the visitors an unassailable lead. The only blot on East Stirling's copybook was the injury-time sending-off of midfielder Paul Weaver for his second bookable offence. Elgin's best chance came on the stroke of half-time when Jason Crooks' shot from the centre of the penalty area flew over the bar.
