Match Preview

Problems for Elgin Elgin City have injury concerns for the visit of Clyde. Goalkeeper John Calder is definitely out, while they also doubts over Jamie Duff and Ross O'Donoghue. Manager Ross Jack has also ruled out Steven Edwards and Neil MacDonald through family commitments with the Elgin boss determined that his men bring a run of six games without a win to an end. Jack said: "We have had a promising season and do not want it to end on a low. "When Clyde were here recently their goalkeeper had a fantastic day and saved everything we threw at him. "Hopefully we can find the net this time out and get things going positively again before the season ends." Clyde are again without defensive midfielder Ally Park and winger Jamie McCluskey for the long trip north. Both men are missing with hamstring injuries, while centre forward Marc McCusker is a doubt with a groin problem. The Bully Wee can lift themselves off the bottom of the SFL for the second time in a week, with manager Jim Duffy saying: "It would be nice for the club to move up to ninth again, however I am also looking at the quality of the performance put in both individually and collectively. "We have won two and drawn one of our last three games so we are definitely making progress. "We have a tough run-in with Elgin, Queen's Park and then Stranraer so it would be good to end the season with six games undefeated."

Match Report

Clyde climb off the bottom John Stewart grabbed a dramatic late winner to clinch a smash and grab 1-0 victory at Elgin which takes Clyde off the foot of the Scottish Third Division table. Stewart headed the only goal of the game in the 83rd minute to send the Bully Wee above East Stirling by the virtue of a single point and within striking distance of third-bottom Montrose with two matches remaining. Neil MacDonald fired wide early on for Elgin before the visitors enjoyed a brief spell of pressure at the other end, Alan Lithgow seeing his effort tipped over the crossbar before Patrick Scuillion and then Lithgow again headed off target. Elgin then repeatedly tried their luck through Neil MacDonald, Ross O`Donoghue, Craig Frizzel and David Gormley but as the half-time whistle blew, neither goalkeeper had been called into action as much as would have been liked. The home side again went on the offensive at the start of the second half, Frizzel forcing a smart parried save from Jordan Allan before then firing wide. Jason Crooks was next to force Allan into action as the home side started to get closer, Gormley later heading over from six yards. And Elgin were made to pay the ultimate price when Stewart headed home from six yards after Kevin Finlayson`s 30-yard effort from the left channel had come back off the crossbar.
