Match Preview

McPhee in line for City bow Elgin City include Archie McPhee in their squad for the first time following the midfielder's loan move from Ross County and he is set to feature against Berwick Rangers. Borough Briggs boss Ross Jack is hoping attacking midfielder Graeme Beveridge will have recovered from the blow he received to his nose last week against East Fife that led to fears it was broken. Jack reckons both sides will go into this game full of confidence, saying: "Berwick will be flying after beating Partick and we are in good spirits after seeing off Ross County and then playing well at East Fife. "Jimmy Crease will be determined that his men got off to a great start in the league but then again so are we." Berwick make the long trek north with midfielder Lee Currie dropping out through suspension to be replaced by David Greenhill. The Borderers have no other concerns with the exception of injured goalkeeper Ian McAldon. Manager Jimmy Crease is predicting plenty of goals and said: "It is a long way to go for a nil-nil game but they have good attackers and we have strikers scoring so this should be a game where goals are scored at both ends. "We did well in the Scottish Communities Cup last week but we are unlikely to win that competition, so it is even more important we do well now that the league games are starting."

Match Report

Gunn on fire for Elgin Craig Gunn fired all four goals for Elgin in their 4-1 defeat of Berwick. Gunn's first came after 17 minutes when he coolly converted Graeme Beveridge's cross from close range. He added a second from the penalty spot three minutes later after Dan Moore was fouled by Dan Smith. Gunn smashed his effort down the centre of the goal. The hat-trick was completed five minutes into the second half when Gunn collected Moore's cross to slot into the bottom corner. But he was not finished there and added a fourth in the 70th minute, heading into the top corner after more good work from Moore. Berwick managed a consolation with five minutes left thanks to Paul Currie's unstoppable 25-yard drive.
