Match Preview

Elgin pair miss out Elgin manager Ross Jack is looking for his side to keep their fine run of home form going by seeing off Annan at Borough Briggs. Defender David Niven will miss the encounter due to suspension while Allan Dempsie is a major doubt due to a thigh knock. Player/assistant manager Barry Wilson is fit and available for selection. Jack is desperate for all three points to narrow the gap between his fifth-placed side and the promotion chasing play-off pack. He said: "We cannot allow that gap to get any wider so it is imperative that we win this game. It would be great if we could go into the December and January period as a team in contention for a play-off place." Annan travel north to Elgin determined to open up a gap on their fifth-placed opponents in the race for a play-off spot. Galabank boss Harry Cairney has added young Ayr winger Aaron Connolly to his squad on loan ahead of the clash. Cairney has been forced to rule out goalkeeper Greg Kelly, though, through work commitments, with captain Kevin Neilson in line for his comeback after stitches were removed from a facial injury. Midfielder Bryan Gilfillan will be included if he passes a fitness test on an injured ankle, striker Graeme Bell is not included in Annan`s travelling party as he has joined junior side Kello on loan. Cairney said: "The catalyst for Elgin's recent good spell was a win at our place so we will be going out to get those three points back."

The first goal came after just five minutes when Brian Cameron stabbed a Jason Crooks cross into the top corner from close range. Crooks himself made it 2-0 when he received a pass from Craig Gunn and fired past Jonny Jamieson from the edge of the 18-yard box.
