Match Preview

Crawford waits on Campbell East Fife manager Steve Crawford could include former Rangers and Partick Thistle defender Stevie Campbell in his squad for the visit of Ayr. Campbell came through a reserve game in midweek after nine months out following a knee injury. On-loan Falkirk defender Stewart Murdoch has been receiving treatment, but is rated only 50/50, while strikers Bobby Linn and Kurtis Byrne should both shake off knocks to be included. Crawford said: "(Ayr manager) Brian Reid will want a response after their defeat last weekend and I was far from pleased with our second-half showing against Forfar, I'm expecting a response as well." Ayr could be without influential trio Dean Keenan, Stephen McKeown and Bobby Donnelly for the clash at East Fife Midfielder Keenan is back from suspension, but picked up a knock in a midweek reserve game and is rated as doubtful, defender Donnelly remains sidelined through injury and midfielder McKeown is also unavailable. Manager Brian Reid is looking to bolster his squad with a couple of trialists, but the Honest Men have ended their interest in experienced goalkeeper Alan Main after his three-game trial period and goalkeeper David Crawford is expected to be back for the trip to Fife. Reid said: "We're all looking to put the Alloa game behind us. We need a positive response and the best response would be a win at East Fife."

Match Report

Roberts is spot on for Ayr Ayr's Mark Roberts scored a hat-trick of penalties to secure a 3-2 win against East Fife in an ill-tempered clash at Bayview Stadium. The Fifers conceded the first penalty in the 13th minute when on-loan signing Stewart Murdoch was penalised for handball and Roberts scored. A foul on the hosts' Lloyd Young gave Rob Sloan the opportunity to put his side level from the spot in the 28th minute. And six minutes later, Kurtis Byrne netted with a neat close-range finish to give his side the advantage. But the referee pointed to the spot again in first-half injury-time when Young brought down midfielder Scott McLaughlin and Roberts slotted home his second penalty. There was still time for the Fifers` Robert Linn to be sent off for a poor challenge on William Easton. And two minutes from time Roberts stepped up to score his and Ayr`s third goal from the penalty spot, and was then sent off for violent conduct.
