Duo given time to prove fitness East Fife boss John Robertson will give defender David Muir and midfielder Darren Smith as long as possible to shake off the knocks they picked up in the Scottish Cup defeat to Falkirk last weekend ahead of the league clash with Arbroath on Saturday. Striker Scott Dalziel could return on the Fifers bench after three months out with a pelvic problem. Manager Robertson has challenged his players to see off Arbroath and start heading towards the play-offs, saying: "We have 20 games left this season in which to achieve what we wanted to achieve when we started out. "We are in eighth place and deserve to be there after losing our last couple of games, but beating an Arbroath side that have done well this year would a big step forward." Arbroath player-manager Paul Sheerin lists the same squad that lost 4-0 to Rangers in the Scottish Cup last Sunday for the clash. Goalkeeper Michael White and striker Jordan Elfverson remain out with knee and back knocks respectively, and Sheerin said he will look to freshen things up after being disappointed with his side's display against the Glasgow side. Sheerin said: "The effort was there but I feel that we did not make as much of a game of it as we could and I will freshen things up as a result. "East Fife have been a bit up and down this season but on their day, especially at home, they are a really good side so we need to be at our best."

Arbroath bounce back Arbroath twice came from behind to battle to a 2-2 draw at East Fife. The Fifers, who had lost their last three, flew out of the blocks and Andrew Cook fired in at the near post to give his side the lead after six minutes. Arbroath, on a winless streak of five themselves, responded on the half-hour mark when Stuart Malcolm lost his marker at the near post to nod a Josh Falkingham cross into the bottom corner. The hosts started the second half with purpose, Craig Johnstone finding Steven Hislop at the far post, who restored his side's lead with a cool finish. But they had to settle for a draw when substitute Gavin Swankie's inch-perfect free-kick found the bottom corner to grab Arbroath a point.
