Match Preview

Cardle in for Pars Dunfermline welcome back winger Joe Cardle for the visit of Queen of the South. Cardle suffered a hamstring injury recently but is fit again along with midfielder Nicky Phinn. However Alex Burke looks set to miss out again as he is short of match practice as does defender Jack Ross. Goalkeeper Greg Paterson and Steven Bell are out longer term with the Pars out to claim top spot by overtaking idle leaders Raith Rovers. East End Park boss Jim McIntyre said: "It will take a huge effort to get this game played but we are hoping that it does go ahead. "Having lost a late goal to Raith Rovers to draw on our last outing, some four weeks ago, we are really keen to get playing again." Queen of the South will add recently signed striker Colin McMenamin to the squad. Rocco Quinn is also available after training along with the rest of the squad this week. Palmerston Park boss Kenny Brannigan has a fully fit squad desperate for action having been without a game for four weeks. He said: "We have been indoors with the players now for two weeks so everyone is bursting for a game. It would be great if it could be at East End Park so we will just have to keep our fingers crossed. "I would love the game to go ahead but only if it is safe for people to watch it."

Match Report

Cardle goal enough for Pars Joe Cardle's late strike was enough to earn Dunfermline three points as they claimed a 1-0 win over Queen of the South. The Pars had chances to open the scoring in the first half but Calum Woods missed the target and Nick Phinn's header was easily saved by David Hutton. Andy Kirk had a great chance to open the scoring for the home side after the interval but his shot was brilliantly tipped around the post by Hutton, before Dunfermline were reduced to 10 men in the 74th minute when Willie Gibson was sent off for violent conduct. Cardle struck with four minutes remaining as he converted a David Graham cross from close range to move Dunfermline back to the top of the table.
