Match Preview

United unchanged for Buddies clash Dundee United are set to have an unchanged squad for their Scottish Premiership contest with St Mirren at Tannadice. Midfielder Ryan Gauld returned from a hip problem when he came off the bench midway through the second half of United's midweek defeat by St Johnstone. John Souttar was again an unused substitute after being troubled by an Achilles injury while fellow defender Curtis Good (hip) remains out. Full-back Keith Watson is determined to bounce back quickly from their derby defeat and not repeat their long run without victory earlier this year. Jackie McNamara's side secured six consecutive victories in a row before Christmas but they failed to win in the subsequent seven games, with their barren run starting with a 4-1 defeat at St Mirren Park on Boxing Day. Watson is therefore eager to triumph against St Mirren to make sure they do not get stuck in a similar rut. "That was the turning point the last time," he said of the St Mirren defeat. "We have been working hard and have definitely learnt from that. "Hopefully we can put things right on Saturday and show the fans it's not going to happen again. "You get setbacks. We know it was a poor result on Wednesday but we just need to look to win the next game. "The St Mirren game was just one of those games. I got sent off and we lost a quick goal afterwards. But after that game we were still full of confidence and knew we had good players who can win games. It just didn't happen for a while and we can't let that happen this time." St Mirren boss Danny Lennon may have to do without former Manchester United midfielder Eric Djemba-Djemba. The Cameroon international is struggling with a tight groin, but Gary Teale is back in the squad ahead of the Scottish Premiership clash at Tannadice after recovering from a bone problem. Still out for the Buddies are hernia victim David van Zanten and skipper Jim Goodwin, who completes a two-game ban. Saints are trying to battle away from the relegation play-off spot but striker Josh Magennis is certain they will survive. He said: "If you look at the squad, you have Marian Kello who, for me, is one of the best keepers in the league, then the likes of Kenny McLean, Paul McGowan, John McGinn, Conor Newton, Steven Thompson - a variety of players who would be a big loss to this league. They are too good to go down. "The club also has a fantastic fanbase, a great training ground and a great stadium. It is a very well-run club and we just need the performances to match what is going on in the background now."
