Match Preview

Forsyth plays his card wrong Dundee will be without midfielder Craig Forsyth when they host Falkirk. Forsyth is banned as a result of his red card at Brechin during the week. The Dark Blues will also be without the injured pair of Dominic Shimmin and Mickael Antoine-Curier, while recent signing Charlie Grant is a doubt because of a knock. The Dens Park side are out to end a run of four games without a win and manager Gordon Chisholm is looking for his players to produce a positive reaction after going out of the Co-operative Insurance Cup in midweek. Chisholm said: "Falkirk will be a very hard game but it is the perfect opportunity for everyone to get going again. "We made loads of chances the other night, never took them and paid the price." Falkirk have a fully-squad for manager Steven Pressley to pick from. Pressley is looking to make it four wins in a row and keep an impressive defensive record of conceding only one goal in their opening five games of the season. He said: "We are in good form just now and Dens Park is a great place to go to and play football. We will take a big support so it should be a great occasion. "They are a good side with good players. Dundee have a number of players that can make a difference to a game with one moment of magic."

Match Report

Dark Blues hold on Ten-man Dundee were able to hold on for a comfortable 2-0 win over Falkirk at Dens Park. The hosts withstood a barrage from Falkirk after goalkeeper Rab Douglas had seen red in the 54th minute, but they held firm to claim victory. The opening half looked like passing without incident, but Dundee snatched the lead after 43 minutes when Craig McKeown's raking pass picked out Stephen O'Donnell to finish from 12 yards. And two minutes later the Dark Blues were further in front as David Witteveen crossed from the left for Nicholas Riley to head into the bottom corner. Partick were handed the chance to get back into the game when Douglas was dismissed for bringing down Carl Finnigan, but the Jags could not make the most of the advantage.
