Match Preview

Dee wait on strike duo Dundee will gave strikers Steven Milne and Graham Bayne until the very last minute to prove their fitness ahead of the visit of Ayr United. Milne has missed the last two games and Bayne has not featured so far this season but manager Barry Smith is hoping they will return to boost his side following their midweek Ramsdens Cup defeat to Falkirk. Smith said: "It would be great to have Steven and Graham available as they provide a real threat. "It would be great if the fans get behind us in the manner they did last season as they were a huge part of the reason we avoided relegation." Ayr look set to be without Eddie Malone for the trip to his former club. The defender is expected to sit out after having stitches inserted into a gashed shin following last Saturday's 2-1 defeat by Hamilton. The Honest Men have not won at Dens Park in nearly 20 years and manager Brian Reid is determined to put that right "I really see that as a challenge so I am looking forward to the game," he said. "We want to put points on the board as soon as possible and feel we should have had at least one from the game against Hamilton last weekend. "We will go to Dens with nothing to fear and give it our best shot."

Match Report

Jake gives Ayr nowhere to Hyde Jake Hyde's first half equaliser denied Ayr United their first win of the season as Dundee secured a 1-1 at Dens Park. The away side took the lead with their first attack through Michael Moffat, an early substitute for the injured Alan Trouten. Moffat got on the end of Micheal McGowan's right wing cross to powerfully head home in the 14th minutes. Dundee went onto the attack and Nicholas Riley forced a fine save from Kevin Cuthbert. They equalised on the half hour when Hyde latched on to Jamie McCluskey's pass to rifle his effort in. In a second half of few chances, Matthew Lockwood should have won it for Dundee six minutes from time but headed over from close range.
