Match Report

Super Swansea took another giant step towards the League One title and dented the hopes of one of their leading rivals with a scintillating display.

Doncaster had lost only once in their previous 17 league games, but they were no match for the slick and skilful Swans.

The Welsh club chalked up their tenth win in 11 games and have now gone 11 points clear at the top of the table.

Dutch midfield ace Ferrie Bodde and star Spanish striker Guillem Bauza led the way for the visitors with outstanding displays.

Bodde had been sent off in Swansea's home fixture between the clubs - which was won by Doncaster - but he seemed determined to make amends.

He produced some neat touches in the middle of the park and helped give Swansea a grip in a match played at a blistering pace.

Martin Woods and Jason Price went close for Rovers before Swansea took complete control with Bodde firing them in front with a powerful free-kick from the edge of the box in the 28th minute.

Rovers tried hard to fight back and Price was denied when he headed home a minute later only to be ruled narrowly offside.

James Coppinger and Woods were just off the mark with free-kicks and Price had a close-range effort bravely saved by Dorus de Vries early in the second half.

But the game was as good as over when Bauza made it 2-0 with an easy tap-in from close range in the 52nd minute and centre-back Stephen Roberts was sent off six minutes later.

Bauza scored after Swansea had ripped the Rovers defence apart and they were wide open again in the 58th minute when the Spaniard went racing through only to be brought down from behind by Roberts.

Top-scorer Jason Scotland added the third goal from the penalty spot in the 86th minute and on-loan Manchester United starlet Febian Brandy sealed an impressive performance with the fourth goal from close range in injury time.
