Striker Andy Booth notched his 109th career goal for Huddersfield with a trademark header to help extend the club's season best run to five straight wins. Town hero Booth nodded in Danny Adams' cross on 43 minutes to move his side up to fourth in the Terriers' all-time scoring chart ahead of 1950's legend Les Masie. Booth had chances to add to his tally, the best of which was when Doncaster keeper Iain Turner blocked his close-range header from another Adams cross on 11 minutes. Adams, making his debut after being released by relegated Stockport, was in the thick of the action throughout and played a role in the move which saw the home side hit the bar soon after Doncaster striker Leo Fortune-West had levelled on 15 minutes. Adams hit a cross-field ball to Pawel Abbott down the right channel, with the striker playing in midfielder Jon Worthington for the goal scoring chance on 20 minutes. Worthington raced in on the target and seemed certain to score but his low shot clipped Turner's trailing left leg, bounced up and hit the crossbar with Doncaster defender Nick Fenton hacking the ball to safety before Huddersfield's Danny Schofield could tap in the rebound. Abbott had put Town ahead after only 59 seconds with an unmarked header from Nathan Clarke's long throw near the right corner flag to register his 23rd goal of the season. Fortune-West then held off Nathan Clarke to steer in the equaliser soon after when he took on Neil Roberts' astute flick on off Turner's goal kick. But Booth had the home side back in front just before the break and midfielder Chris Brandon sealed victory with a 20-yard thunderbolt after the Doncaster defence failed to clear Abbott's cross from the left. Doncaster had chances to get back into the game. A crucial miss came on 42 minutes with the scores locked at 1-1 when Roberts played in Steve Foster down the right side of the box only for the defender to shoot tamely at Town keeper Paul Rachubka. The win continues Huddersfield's seemingly improbable rise away from relegation danger to close in on a play-off place at the expense of a Rovers outfit whose chances of a third successive promotion have been effectively ended.
