Derby have done well to put pressure on United over the last five minutes, forcing the Premier League side to play from deep and rush their attacks

Tevez ends a promising United move by hitting a speculative 25 yard shot when a pass to the open Ronaldo looked a better option

Another excellent run from Commons, who was played in behind the United defence but he shot too early and scuffed his 20 yard effort well wide

Brilliant move by Commons on the left wing as he spins past Evans, sprints towards the box and hits a drive which Kuzczak can only parry to the onrushing Hulse but he rushed shot from eight yards somehow goes over the bar

Derby have become rather trapped in their own half as United turn the screw

Ronaldo hit the dead ball as expected and his fierce drive looked destined for the far top corner but it swerved a little too much and missed the post by a whisker

Serious problems for Derby here as a sharp turn by Tevez on the edge of the box forced Todd to concede the foul, just 20 yards from goal

More danger provided by Ronaldo - this time a snap shot from 20 yards that wasn't well struck but was only a yard wide of Carroll's goal

United continue to look to Ronaldo for inspiration, but after his step-over fails to beat Mo Camara he overhits a rushed cross and the ball goes out for a goal kick

Davies got his head on Commons' set piece but the ball was behind him and his flick ended up well wide of the goal

Derby are giving as good as they get, even with a lead, as Commons first wins a free-kick from Evans and then a corner

Ronaldo and Tevez combine again, this time the World Player of the Year giving the ball to the Argentine inside the box but, with no one to help, he makes room for a bicycle kick which is straight at Carroll

An excllent touch from Davies brought him some space on the edge of the box but he rushed his shot, failing to find the target

Better work from Ronaldo and Tevez allows Rafael to be played in down the right but his cross is poor and goes straight out for a goal kick

The Rams don't look in the mood to grant United's stars any gifts as Ronaldo is floored before giving the ball away easily - both to the enjoyment of the crowd

Before anyone could come on United were almost caught out as a deep cross from the right found Hulse, who tried to knock the ball down to the unmarked Commons but his touch was poor

Connolly fouls the busy Nani just outside the Derby box, a dangerous place to concede a free-kick

Again the pressure from the Derby midfield gets a reward as Scholes is rushed into a misplaced pass just as United had maneuvered themselves into a good position

Carroll wins a race between him and the onrushing Nani after a backpass was left short, clearing just a split second before the Portuguese arrived

Derby are again full of energy and drive, although how long they can keep this level of effort up is yet to be seen

Derby, preferring the more direct route, almost get onto a loose ball after a long free-kick was arrowed forward into the United box, but again Vidic sweeps away the danger

United continue to play patient football as they look to slowly open Derby up, although a loose ball from Tevez ends this attack

That left side of defence continues to look weak under the pressure as O'Shea gives the ball away to Mile Sterjovski in his own half but Vidic is nearby to clean up the mess

Nani recieves some treatment after a heavy fall but he looks well enough to continue as Derby continue to concentrate their pressure on United's left side

Finally a moment of quiet at Pride Park as both teams give the ball away cheaply in the middle of the pitch

Paul Connolly ends a promising counter move from Derby by hiting an ugly cross from the right wing that landed dozens of rows back in the stand behind Kuszczak's goal

The game has opened up completely now as Gibson finds space on the right to fire over a dangerous cross that is headed behind for a corner

Todd, making a rare aggressive foray up the pitch, looked on for a shot from 25 yards but he chose a pass behind the defense for Commons instead but it was overhead and went out for a goal kick

O'Shea and Nani work an excellent one-two on the edge of the Derby box to give the Irishman a shooting chance but he took one touch too many and Paul Green blocks his effort

By comparison Carlos Tevez has become almost a fifth midfielder as the reigning Premier League champions try to get a grip on the match

Again Welbeck is the target for the attempted through ball, this time played by Anderson, but it is overhit and Carroll comes to the edge of his box to collect

Finally United get the ball forward as Nani aims a long pass towards Welbeck who wins a throw in the far left corner

United are staying calm despite the period of pressure, maintaining a high defensive line and being content with playing the ball around the back line

Another goaline clearance from United as the Rams begin to dominate. Jonny Evans this time did the work after Mile Sterjovski's low drive from the edge of the box had beaten the keeper

Kuszczak did well to smother the first after Rob Hulse had played a clever ball accross the box and then Nemanja Vidic slid in to block the rebound

Derby very close to the opening goal as Davies was gifted two chances inside the United area

Its been a frantic start to the half but United have so far failed to dominate which will please the home crowd
