Match Preview

Pinney set for bow Dagenham will have on-loan midfielder Nathaniel Pinney available for the home clash with Walsall. Pinney, 19, joined the Daggers on loan from Crystal Palace on Thursday and he will go straight into the squad to face Chris Hutchings' men. Boss John Still has no fresh selection concerns for the game in which Dagenham will be hoping to extend their unbeaten home run to three games. Defenders Will Antwi and Abu Ogogo are still sidelined with hamstring injuries but they will be ready to resume training on Monday and could be in contention for the visit to Rochdale next week. The game at Victoria Road is the first ever league meeting between the two sides. Walsall hope to have veteran striker Darren Byfield available. The Saddlers skipper has been missing for almost a month having injured his knee when he landed awkwardly in the 2-1 home defeat to Swindon. But he received a cortisone injection to the affected area earlier in the week and hopes to train fully on Friday with a view to making the trip south with his team-mates. Winger Steve Jones is fit and in contention having made a late three-minute cameo on his long-awaited return from an ankle injury in last Saturday`s 2-1 victory over Exeter - a result which ended an eight-game winless run and duly lifted the midlands outfit off the foot of the table. That just leaves midfielder Richard Taundry working on his rehabilitation from a long-term knee injury.

Match Report

Devaney denies Daggers Martin Devaney earned struggling Walsall a 1-1 draw at Dagenham & Redbridge with his first goal since moving on loan from Barnsley. The Saddlers came closest to breaking the deadlock early on, forcing two good saves from Tony Roberts with the veteran stopper on hand to deny Matt Richards and then Devaney. After 26 minutes the visitors were punished for their wastefulness when Danny Green took advantage of some hesitation from Ryan McGivern and crossed for Darren Currie, who powered his header past Jon Brain to put Dagenham in front. The Daggers almost doubled their lead soon after when Green's superbly struck free-kick rattled the Walsall crossbar. The Saddlers left the pitch at half-time to a chorus of boos, but their mood soon changed after 50 minutes when Jon Macken found Devaney in space on the edge of the Dagenham box and his first time effort wrong-footed Roberts to level the scores. The visitors survived a barrage of pressure with Romain Vincelot, Bas Savage and Green all going close, but Walsall held on for a point.
