Match Preview

Tomlin boost for Daggers Dagenham boss John Still should have striker Gavin Tomlin back for the visit of Tranmere. Tomlin picked up a knock to his back in the defeat at Sheffield Wednesday on the opening day of the season but has returned to full training and is expected to be on the bench. Long-term absentee Stuart Thurgood remains sidelined with his knee problem and new signing Conor Okus will also not be involved. The teenager joined the Daggers on a two-year contract this week but he will rejoin Blue Square South side Thurrock on loan. Still's side have yet to score in League One since winning promotion and are looking for a first win at this level. Tranmere boss Les Parry looks certain to again include striker Ian Thomas-Moore in his line-up Thomas-Moore recently had a transfer request turned down following strong interest from League Two side Rotherham, managed by his father and former Tranmere boss Ronnie Moore. Yet Parry is quietly confident that Thomas-Moore will sign the contract extension on offer to him. Parry said: "The pendulum has now swung the other way and it now looks 70-30 that he's going to stay with us which is good news." Defender Maxime Blanchard, a summer signing, is likely to earn his first League One start against the Daggers. But centre-back Marlon Broomes and utility player Ash Taylor are set to remain sidelined through injury.

Match Report

Cresswell makes a point A superb free-kick from Aaron Cresswell earned Tranmere a point against Dagenham in a 2-2 draw. The clubs shared just a point between them going into the game, but, after a first half of persistent pressure and chances, John Still's Daggers made their superiority tell in the 52nd minute. Left-sided midfielder Peter Gain found space on his touchline and whipped an inviting cross into the middle of the area and it was headed in by Romain Vincelot, whose run from midfield was not picked up. Captain Mark Arber made it two on 71 minutes, with a driven volley at the back post after a Danny Green corner. Tranmere's Enoch Showumni gave his side hope on 78 minutes, with a fine, curling right-footed shot into the bottom corner past Tony Roberts as the visitors finally awoke from their slumber. Ten minutes of pressure followed and, in the 88th minute, Damien McCrory gave away a free-kick on the edge of the box, from which youth team product Cresswell unleashed an unstoppable hit into the top-left corner of Roberts' net to spark mass celebrations in the visitors' dugout.
