Match Preview

Changes afoot for Daggers Dagenham & Redbridge boss John Still is set to be forced into at least three changes as his depleted squad entertain high-flying Shrewsbury. Midfielder Oliver Lee, who has started 15 of the club's 16 league games this season, has returned to parent club West Ham upon the completion of his maximum 93-day loan. Striker Troy Hewitt is also back with QPR after Still opted not to extend his month-long loan stay which expired following last weekend`s 2-0 defeat at Bristol Rovers. Midfielder Kevin Maher is also unlikely to feature against Shrews having picked up an ankle problem against the Pirates which could rule him out for a few weeks. One bright spot for the Daggers is the return of defender Scott Doe after serving a one-match suspension. Meanwhile, of the club`s long-term absentees, Josh Scott (knee) is starting to get match practice under his belt, Rob Edmans (broken leg) is back in training and hoping to return next month, Luke Howell (knee) is targeting a February comeback but Sam Williams (knee) will have to wait until next season. James Wallace is in contention for his Shrewsbury debut. The England Under-20 midfielder arrived from Everton on Thursday on one-month loan deal and could well go straight into Graham Turner`s starting XI. Wallace has been brought in to counter the loss of Nicky Wroe to a groin injury, with the midfielder expected to miss the next couple of weeks having been substituted at half-time in last weekend`s goalless draw at home to AFC Wimbledon. Turner has a selection decision to make in attack with striker Marvin Morgan serving a one-match suspension for collecting five bookings this season. Morgan and Tom Bradshaw started the stalemate against the Dons, with fit-again Terry Gornell (knee) selected on the bench ahead of James Collins, who came back into contention having previously been the subject of club discipline. Defenders Carl Regan (hamstring) and Reuben Hazell (knee) continue to miss out as Shrews aim to improve on a disappointing away record which is the worst of any side in the top half of npower League Two.

Match Report

Daggers beaten by 10-man Shrews Goals from Terry Gornell and James Collins earned 10-man Shrewsbury a 2-0 victory against struggling Dagenham. Daggers defender Richard Rose gifted the visitors the opener on six minutes, when his miscued clearance ran across goal to allow Gornell to nip in and poke the ball past keeper Chris Lewington. Shrewsbury were dealt a setback midway through the first half when debutant James Wallace was shown a straight red card for a lunge on Jon Nurse. The home side pressed for an equaliser before the interval, but Nurse and Danny Green were both thwarted by keeper Chris Neal. Substitute Collins missed two golden opportunities within minutes of coming on to seal the win. First he rose highest to meet Matt Richards' free-kick but headed straight at Lewington. Then, his fine solo run into the box finished with a fierce shot being blocked by Rose. In the final action of the game Scott Doe gave away a penalty and was sent off for a foul on Collins, who dusted himself down to score from the spot.
