Match Preview

Taiwo set for second `debut' Dagenham & Redbridge manager John Still could hand a second debut to Solomon Taiwo against Hartlepool. Midfielder Taiwo re-joined the club on loan from Cardiff until the end of the season on Thursday, 15 months after leaving the Daggers for a fee in the region of #250,000, and could come straight back into the side. Midfielders Peter Gain and Danny Green will both miss out having picked up their fifth yellow cards of the season at Rochdale so sit out one-match bans. Defender Abu Ogogo is training after his hamstring injury but this game is probably a little too early for him to make a comeback, while Will Antwi is still not training due to recurring problems with his hamstring. Hartlepool will be missing Evan Horwood for the trip. The left-back suffered a hip injury in the second half of last week's 2-2 draw with Bristol Rovers and will not recover in time to play. Striker Adam Boyd is still out with a back injury, but caretaker boss Mick Wadsworth has better news concerning the fitness of Ritchie Humphreys and James Brown. Both men have returned to training following injury lay-offs, but with no reserve-team action under their belts, the Daggers clash will come too soon. Pools have won two of their six League Two games on the road this season and will hope to put further space between themselves and the bottom four.

Match Report

Pools earn late point Mark Arber scored a 95th minute own goal to give Hartlepool a deserved point at Dagenham in a 1-1 draw. After an eventful first half, which was more exciting than the goalless scoreline would imply, Daggers eventually took the lead after 49 minutes. After Gavin Tomlin was tripped en route towards goal, Darren Currie sent a quickly-taken free-kick to Phil Ifil, whose drilled cross from the right deflected heavily off Hartlepool defender Peter Hartley and looped into the top corner of the net. The goal brought the visitors to life with substitute Armann Bjornsson's aerial threat proving difficult to deal with. The Icelandic forward was denied a certain goal on the hour mark by a heroic block from Arber, before Leon McSweeney's fizzing shot flew just over the bar. Andy Monkhouse's deflected shot then hit the woodwork before home defenders Arber and Damien McCrory both nearly scored embarrassing own goals. However, after the announced four minutes of injury time had already been played, Gary Liddle struck a ball from the edge of the box, which took a deflection and agonisingly spun past the stranded Tony Roberts in the Dagenham goal.
