Match Preview

Still has selection problems Dagenham manager John Still has several injury problems to contend with ahead of the visit of Football League new-boys AFC Wimbledon. Midfielders Billy Bingham (knee) and Kevin Maher (fractured metatarsal) miss out once again, while striker Rob Edmans (fractured leg) remains on the sidelines. Defender Richard Rose (groin) and striker Josh Scott (hip) are sidelined but are set for a return to training next week. Goalkeeper Chris Lewington returns after serving a one-match ban for his dismissal in the opening-day win over Macclesfield and could replace on-loan Arsenal stopper James Shea between the posts. Midfielder Peter Gain has returned to full training this week after undergoing a hernia operation during the summer and could be included in the squad. James Mulley could be added to the AFC Wimbledon squad. The midfielder has missed the Dons' first two games of the season due to a hamstring injury but resumed training on Thursday. Boss Terry Brown has an otherwise unchanged squad to choose from and is unlikely to make changes despite the opening League Two defeat by Bristol Rovers last weekend. Mat Mitchel-King, the summer signing from Crewe, is back in light training after a bout of glandular fever but is a couple of weeks away from being considered for his debut. Fellow defender Fraser Franks, who has been sidelined since March with a knee injury, is due back in training in the next fortnight.

Match Report

Dons earn historic win Rashid Yussuff struck a spectacular second-half goal in a 2-0 victory at Dagenham to earn AFC Wimbledon their first-ever Football League win. The Daggers made a positive start to the match and almost went in front through Jon Nurse after 13 minutes but his powerful half-volley from 20 yards crept just wide. Wimbledon were awarded a penalty after 37 minutes when referee Andrew Madley penalised Scott Doe for handball. Luke Moore made no mistake from the spot, sending goalkeeper Chris Lewington the wrong way. Dons doubled their lead just before the hour mark when Yussuff was allowed to carry the ball forward from midfield unchallenged and thundered a fierce effort past Lewington from 25 yards. The home side pushed for a goal but the Dons defence remained resolute with Jamie Stuart and Samuel Hatton both producing a series of blocks to deny Sam Williams, Oliver Lee and Jake Reed. At the other end, Wimbledon could have scored a third goal with 10 minutes to go but Stuart's header from Hatton's corner was blocked on the line by Nurse.
