Match Preview

Blanchett boosts Alex Crewe defender Danny Blanchett returns to contention for the visit of Shrewsbury. The left-back missed the derby defeat at Port Vale on Saturday after suffering concussion against Aldershot the previous weekend. Fellow defender Mat Mitchel-King and midfielder Ashley Westwood are nursing knocks but boss Dario Gradi expects them to be fit. "Danny is okay, he`s fit and he will feature on Tuesday night. Whether he will start or be on the bench, he will be involved somewhere," Gradi told the club`s official website. "Ashley and Mat are fine. They got knocks on Saturday, Mat was hobbling around a bit towards the end, but both are okay. We have a fully fit squad at the moment." Shrewsbury boss Graham Turner is looking to utilise the loan market for defensive reinforcements with a host of players on the sidelines. Full-back Dave Raven suffered a recurrence of his groin problem just 18 minutes into Saturday`s 2-1 win over Barnet before centre-back Ian Sharps went off with a hamstring strain shortly after half-time. Daniel O`Donnell came on to replace Sharps but he too is in the treatment room having suffered a reaction to his second-half display. Raven and Sharps will miss out at Gresty Road while O`Donnell is doubtful, and the trio join fellow defender Harry Hooman who is still struggling with a blow to his foot sustained while playing for the reserves last week. Youngster Connor Goldson could be thrown in to the mix but he has only just returned from tendonitis, leaving Turner with little option but to look to the loan market. Winger Lionel Ainsworth (groin) and midfielder Lewis Neal (calf) remain doubts having missed out at the weekend, while strikers Tom Bradshaw (ankle) and Nathan Elder (knee) will definitely have to watch from the stands.

Match Report

Price is Wright as Shrews tame Alex Mark Wright struck his second goal of the game in injury-time to give Shrewsbury a 2-1 win at Crewe. Wright ran 20 yards before drilling home a superb winner having opened the scoring from close-range after five minutes. It was Patrick Ada's mistake that gifted Shrewsbury a dream start. The defender overhit his backpass beyond keeper Rhys Taylor, leaving Wright with the simplest of finishes into an empty net. Shrewsbury could have extended their lead but were twice denied by the woodwork in quick succession. Jake Robinson turned and crashed the ball against the foot of a post before Temitope Obadeyi drilled the rebound against the crossbar. Shaun Miller equalised four minutes after the break, collecting Clayton Donaldson`s pass before beating Chris Neal from eight yards. Ada was the guilty party again when he brought down Robinson inside the box. Taylor spared his blushes by saving Robinson`s spot kick but Wright had the final word.
