Railwaymen to set Tunnicliffe in train
James Tunnicliffe is set to make his Crewe debut when Burton visit the Alexandra Stadium in npower League Two.
Alex boss Steve Davis is without first-choice centre-back pairing David Artell and Adam Dugdale after the duo both picked up red cards in the defeat at Barnet last time out.
Tunnicliffe, who has joined the Railwaymen on a one-month loan from Wycombe, is poised to come in alongside Harry Davis in the heart of the defence.
Carl Martin is set for a recall at full-back having featured as a half-time substitute against the Bees.
Shaun Miller could return in attack as loanee Greg Pearson is unavailable for selection against his parent club and Ajay Leitch-Smith is out with an ankle injury sustained during training.
Lee Bell is hoping to play for the reserves this week as he steps up his return from hernia surgery, but Tuesday's game comes too soon for the midfielder.
Burton could have three players back in contention.
The postponement of the games against Swindon and Gillingham has given leading scorer Billy Kee, fellow striker Justin Richards and defender Tony James more time to recover from the injuries that have kept them on the sidelines recently.
Twelve-goal striker Kee, who rejected a move to league rivals Crawley at the end of last month, has missed the last four matches with a groin problem. James has missed the last two games due to a knee injury.
Both players have resumed training along with Richards and have a good chance of coming back into the reckoning.
Richards is the least likely of the trio to be involved but he could be included in the squad if the ankle he injured in the build up to the Oxford game just over a fortnight ago responds to treatment.
On-loan Swansea midfielder Lee Lucas and the versatile Aaron Webster are unavailable after suffering hamstring injuries at the end of last month but former Derby defender Chris Riggott might be added to the squad after signing a deal until the end of the season.
Murphy seals Crewe win
Luke Murphy's strike proved the difference as Crewe saw off Burton 3-2.
Goals either side of the break from Danny Shelley and Ashley Westwood put Crewe in the driving seat before Callum Driver pulled one back for the visitors. Murphy put Crewe two up again before Calvin Zola netted in injury time for Albion.
Andreas Gurrieri almost gave the visitors an early lead but the livewire winger prodded Zola's centre the wrong side of the post. Alex soon took control, however, and Shaun Miller was denied by visiting keeper Ross Atkins before Adam Bolder cleared another Miller effort off the line.
Crewe finally broke the deadlock with 29 minutes gone. Nick Powell's sublime chip found Shelley unmarked on the edge of the box and the winger dispatched a low right-footed strike into the far corner of the net.
Westwood drilled Shelley's cutback into the roof of the net to give the Alex a two-goal cushion in the 55th minute but, two minutes later, Driver raced onto Bolder's through-ball to hand the Brewers a lifeline.
Zola was denied by a last-ditch block by James Tunnicliffe before the striker fired a golden opportunity wide from eight yards out. But Luke Murphy restored Crewe's two-goal advantage, racing into the box to score with three minutes to go before Zola netted from a tight angle in injury time.
